To some the game is just a tool Dough, they don't actually care about game play. It is the statistics they care about, not the mechanics.

Indeed. Statistics are always good. Of course, depending on the person, they may only look into some of those within them.

And that is why I beat you. Its important to build characters you'll enjoy playing, but PVP is competitive, so its just as important to push the limits of the tools you have available by maximising your builds efficiency. If you don't care enough to build for competition, why compete at all?

You have the skills to stand on equal terms with me, so why not build for them and do so?

Except what if you don't beat him? I've beaten you with cosplay toons Pirate, I used to invade the forest with zero poise. In some ways it turns people into better players to limit themselves, because it hones their skils more.

because I already beat you, using my own skills, using not the best equipment in the game. ANd Im sure I could do it again. I didnt have to make a cookie cutter build because I know what i enjoy, and if I enjoy playing it I can get better at it and beat you even if you're using the best gear.

    @Tolvo, thats called practice.

@dough, you have fun believing that. Even assuming we're dead equal in skill terms, if I have better gear, I'm probably going to win.

Keep in mind also, that that is my former LH build and I was just as handicapped by sub-par gear. Leaving the LH got me 23 poise and netted just over 600 hp. Without limits imposed by the LH, my build is superior to the build you were using. Thus, giving me a huge advantage.

Its important to train without those advantages yes, to avoid becoming reliant on them, but to forsake them in building a character you actually intend to compete with is counter intuitive at best.

Keep in mind I rarely pvp, and that was the first time I had ever used that build for pvp.

I always wondered what would it be like if we could use Lanterns for Magic.

If it was either the Fire Lantern Bolts that Pinwheel have and the Fire Blast, or all of the Pyromancy spells, and you could pick either or... which one would you choose?

    I would choose the lantern.

I want to throw fire from a lantern. Honestly the pyro fireballs are odd looking.

I wasn't saying I'm better. I specifically said he has the skill to stand on equal footing. I ment in a duel just in case that was also unclear.

Almost Nothing is absolute equal when it comes to a world where formulas are more complicated than what simple math can show. Even if the equipment of two are the exact same, as well as the stats, the controller of avatar is the one aspect that shows difference. It is not impossible to obtain... however highly unlikely.

Now, for the Lanterns... Imagine if the player is able to hold an army of skeletons to follow them. They can use the Lantern to create skeletons to bring back to life. Different forms of level for Fire Bolts would also exist, as we see from the Necromancer to Pinwheel (which Pinwheel has two to three different ones). Add the Fire Blast, and perhaps add some Dark Magic (as we see form Boss Pinwheel and his duplication and teleportation)... what spells would you like to see come from the lantern.

Obviously the oes you see in game. I also think dual wielding them should give you the replicate, except the replicas do no dmamage and die in one hit. The skeleton thing ... I think it should simply be a spell like the fire ones would be, with limited casts. But you could infinitely revive skellies not killed with a divine weapon. Of course the cast time would take awhile so it wouldnt be broken for pvp.

Remember the blue beacons player see in the Tomb only if they have a lantern? Maybe the Lantern could do that for other players like a Guidance Sign, however they can only see it with a Sign. Perhaps the player can only have three blue beacons in total, similar to how players can only have 6 guidance signs in total.

Would be cool if the Player could be able to use the Lantern to grow in power depending on Lantern. Difference between Necromancer and Pinwheel Lantern may define the type of magic you use. Perhaps the power of Lanterns is not powered by the magic adjustment of a Lantern, rather perhaps the number of objects the player holds. For example, perhaps if the player has 10 eyes of death, a lantern grows in power. Two different Lanterns, the Pinwheel and Skull Lantern, can be different in terms of scaling with Eyes and base adjustment. Perhaps even humanity may work, as the Necromancers and Pinwheels shows connections to the three main gods of sun; Velka, Gwyn, and God of War. Maybe it will scale with humanity instead of eyes of death. Or, perhaps it scales with the covenant of the Gravelord, increasing for the amount of eyes and such given the Gravelord Nito.

Dark Magic of wisp conjuration and perhaps other aspects such as a similar spell such as Dark hand Block, or other forms of magic. Maybe the use of Masks and such can amplify the Lanterns, such as the Child amplifies speed, father amplifies power, and mother amplifies amount.
