So there I was mucking around in the Darkroot Garden farming souls, when I thought why not give the Forest Hunter Covenant one more go, and so having joined up once more I equipped the ring and waited for my first summons.

Sure enough 20 seconds later I find myself summoned to a Host world, not as a protective Guardian, but a white co-op Phantom? :suspect:

I couldn't work out who was the more shocked me or the Host? lol

Still we played along, and teaming up we soon found ourselves invaded by a Darkmoon, who after a fairly lengthy battle dropped a right ol clanger by rolling off the edge of a cliff in an attempt to escape a hefty thrust from my trusty +10 Balder, awarding me (and presumably the Host) 680,000 souls in the process! :affraid:

I thought, that'll do nicely, and as soon as our co-op session was up promptly went about spending my ill-gotten gains to upgrade my toon ever closer to the cherished 120 SL target. big grin

My time as a Forest Hunter didn't last long though, as my very next foray into the Wood, ended with me betraying the Covenant by b-slapping Shiva's Ninja Guardian for the DWGR! twisted

Pretty much billy, but it wasn't intentional. Well I didn't set out to do it, and in our defense we didn't use any underhanded tactics (lag backstabs, what-have-ya), at least none that I noticed, making it a straight-up 2v1 fight. happy

I was in a group once that ended up being gankers. At first the host let one of us (there were three) fight invaders 1v1. We did engage a few warriors as a group but strictly, at least in my opinion, when the person wanted to (as defined by purposefully engaging everyone). There's a noticeable difference between people who enjoy it and those who don't. Anyway, I stepped up to fight a guy solo and bowed and the host and the other phantom nailed him with spells. The next fight was epic because the invader was damn good. I hung the host out to dry. He even tried to hide behind me at one point. Never raised a weapon and moved faster than the host so the invader could get him. Bowed to the invader immediately. Even though I felt like the guys we ganked were looking for that kind of fight I never went back to it. There was one fight where the invader was chopping up the host and other phantom pretty easy. It took me to win and I'm not great now and was worse then. I realized that, in game like in real life, I wasn't going to get better unless I challenged myself. Dual wield GSoA night? Epic fail, but I learned more than I did with the pack. So I won't condemn ya Gazman but if you hear me talking trash about gankers in general this is where I'm coming from.

If the truth be known it's not something that I'll be rushing back to as I prefer a straight-up 1v1 fight, seeing as that I pretty much suck when it comes to PvP, and I know there's no way I'm gonna get any better if I always end up doing 50% (or less) of the work. So come on, give a guy a break, I was an Accidental Ganker. You could say that in that one chance moment I inadvertently became the Dustin Hoffman of the DkS world! lol

Lol. I'm an advocate for playing the way you want so I don't usually condemn any ganker actually. I do however enjoy killing them in the forest and there are some things I don't agree with whatsoever, but don't condemn the person doing it. Not everyone went to the Skarekrow13 University of Online Gaming after all.

im not gonig to condemn him for ganking but we all know about the Black crystal, if i ever appeared as a white phantom, when i had intended to invade i would bc out, id rather be on the receiving end of a gank then be part of it, as im sure most of us would

If i invaded as a white then i would just waste their time, not helping at all until they BC me out.

Meh, I got summoned as a white. I finished the fight that was currently going on cause the guy was being an *** (possibly because he saw a white come in idk not my problem) and then BC'ed out. however way way back in my early days I 2v1'ed in the forest for a few ours. enchanted zweihander taking people out. it was not very ganky but it was still a 2v1 most of the time lol.

There is fighting two on one and then there is being arrayed at the spawn and swinging as they come in. or one of you fishing for backstabs while he tries to fight the other. or any number of other things. I had no idea what was and was not fair game back then xD *shrugs* and even then one or another of us was away some of the time xD

Yeah. It’s only really a gank if they’re waiting for you. And sometimes "ganks" can be fun/friendly.

Just to get one thing straight, I could of used the BC as soon as I discovered that I was a co-op and not an Invader, but given that the Invading party was clearly willing to engage both the Host and me at the same time, and given that all three of us (from what I could tell) actively refrained from resorting to the use of cheap tactics throughout the fight, there really was no point. In fact, I honestly believe that my doing so would have only served to P-off both Host and Invader, and I even suspect that the Invader would have been the most annoyed by my doing so.

Like I said, I did not set out to Gank, it came about by sheer chance brought on by a glitch in the game, and as such when the Invader turned up I initially stood back from the fight until he/she engaged me, after they had already engaged the Host I might add, which pretty much proves that the Invader was looking to take part in a 2v1 fight, simply because up until that point there was nothing forcing him/her into it. The fact that the 2 turned out to be victorious does not change this, as up until the point of the Invader's unintentional suicide he/she to their credit was pretty much holding his/her own against our combined might, making it a bloody good fight.
