Likely an architect. The Fortress is named after him but you'll notice a lack of living space and comforts of home. The building is a proving ground, meaning no one is meant to live there. The use of his name then, most likely suggested he designed it.

saw this awhile ago about a Japanese Princess named Sen who had a Tower\Fortress build for her by her Father-in-Law.

The creators are Japanese. It's not that far-fetched. I read loopier theories on here on a daily basis.

Someone mentioned that before (not sure who) and linked to the castle which had a series of safeguards such as narrow spaces to funnel enemies and points where defenders would have the advantage. No swinging blades from the ceiling but still seemed like a good inspiration.

also, ignoring the archetypal Pagoda-aesthetic, Himeji Castle sounds like a possible inspiration from the Princess Sen link. A towering fortress overlooking nearby forests and castle walls, one of the Towers would eventually be home to Princess Sen.

So Sen was a hot princess that men fought over? Hmmm. Well, maybe I'll forgive her then for putting a thin walkway with swinging blades and strategically placed snipers.
