Dragon's Dogma... What Class? Empty Dragon's Dogma... What Class?

    Post by Serious_Much Sat Jun 30, 2012 2:47 pm

Just got the update downloading.. Now then I want you guys to tell me what class would be best to give me the.. well best experience first time round with Dragon's Dogma.

Not a poll as I don't know the classes, and don't give me reasons either, just the class you think will give me the most enjoyable and in depth first playthrough.

Now I'm gonna go design my lovely flame haired companion for a while then I'll coem back and see the results lol!

I haven’t played DD yet but i will always pick a archer as my first class in any RPG.

It doesn't particularly matter what you start off as. You can change your class at the inn in Gran Soren (the main town) whenever you want to and as many times as you want to. I personally started off as a sorcerer, then went the magick archer route, went to a magick warrior, then went between hunter and magick warrior for the rest of the game, also trying out the warrior class, which I ended up not liking anyway.

Mage is helpful early on because of healing. Otherwise I've heard really good things about the archer and strider.

I would recommend making your main pawn a mage unless you really like playing as one. I think all the magick tie-in classes are fun, and playing as hunter is pretty fun too. What's not to love about being able to knock 11 arrows at one time? silly

SSSHHHHH I'm only halfway through the manga, my computer can barely load the pages sad

I've gone as a strider for now, though I'm gonna change into one of the more interesting looking classes you can see on the basic body builds select screen

Once you catch up with the manga it’s slow. New chapters come out once every 2 months sad

Strider is good fun. I started as warrior but changed to assassin asap and I loved it. Having your main pawn be a mage is very useful, as it allows you to get the heals and buffs you want rather than what the owner wanted.

anything, then magick archer once you have the equipment for it, multi-targeting arrow rain ftw also the ricocheting arrow skill murders anything that lives in a cave, that and you can use magickal dagger skill that are awesome, one you aquire later sets you on fire:twisted: (and damages enemies alot) actually, start as a mage or fighter and stay there until you get a defense passive skill then switch to the other (fighter to mage, mage to fighter) and pick up the equivalent defense passive of the other class, then you could be anything. also for pawns i recomend going the warrior route long enough to get its last few passive abilities (massive dmg boosts) and then swithcing them back to fighters or striders that have a 200+ dmg boost:)

Yeah sparkly, I started as strider, then immediately changed to magic archer and it's awesome, homing arrows for harpies, multiarrow rain, and magical attacks with your daggers is awesome!

My main pawn Is a warrior (I think, the one with a *** off sword on her back). She's too small for it lol, the sword just hangs in thin air lol!

I'm probably gonna switch between a little bit to get more "core skills" and augments and stuff, though costs so much to unlock a new class and you have to use it for a while to get the augments and good things outta it..

Having a lot of fun with the game though, mixing in the special attacks and knowing when to go in and attack something.. I can see some of it's intricacies now that are more subtle than you first expect.

My overall favorite is a basic fighter, followed by warrior. But of all of them, I think the most broken is the Mystic Knight. I hated it as a slow and clumsy melee fighter when I first tried it, but I think I just didn't have the higher level skills. They're nuts. There's one called Great Cannon where you "cast" this orb of white light that stays in one spot for about a minute, and every time you hit it with your weapon, it launches 3-4 homing missiles. I'm not sure, but the missiles seem to also take on the elemental characteristics of the weapon you hit the orb with, so it will pass through any buffs your mages/sorceror may have put on your weapon as well. The end result is that you can cast this thing from, say, atop a pile of rocks, and just rain a stream of homing missiles down on everything in the area. It'll even target hit locations on the larger bosses, like the glowing spots on a golem, and knock down flying creatures. Plus the range on it is crazy, I've had entire boss fights where my pawns just stood around because I was blasting the boss from so far away they never targeted it.

I would recommend to play what fits your play style I myself love battle mage classes so mystic knight for me also assassin is great for a good balance of melee and ranged but this game class system is just like Dark Souls go with what you like
