i just shot all its heads off and it was still alive but could do no damage, it could even jump but thats about it... when i quit and reloaded the heads were back but... hey who doesn't like having a pet headless hydra for a while?

(btw just shoot off a head then rest at the bonfire, the head will stay gone, repeat until headless)

That thing always scares the crap out of me. Actually Ash Lake scares me in general. The bottomless lake just creeps me out. Who knows what the hell could be down there?

    YES.

I knew I'd find a kindred soul someday!
It would have been interesting, although horrifying as heck, if Soft had made something to reach out, grab you and drag you into the depths if you spent way too much time in the shore.

I love Ash Lake but I didn't enjoy getting down there the first time (The Great Hollow). I got cursed and because I hadn't got the Lord Vessel I couldn't warp between bonfires, so I had this massive hike back to the guy in the Belfry (Oswald?) to buy a cure.

I think Ash Lake is under-exploited in terms of exploration. Apart from the Hydra, which I thought was a lot easier to kill than the one in Darkroot, there isn't that much to do. An underwater area with caves to explore and new mobs to battle would have been great. A missed opportunity I think but then FROM couldn't do everything.

You know about those fugly species down in the deepest parts of the ocean?

Welp, I guess From could have made a cavernous system, a la Falmer city, full of blind, noisy fish men. A mix of Shadow of Innsmouth/Sahuagin. And no ambience music whatsoever.
Pitch black; no pitfalls either, just to get the player to spend as much as possible inside that place, being careful about something that's not there.

And each time they aggro a fish men, they SCREECH.

And as for the boss? Make the player walk into a big, tall chamber, and make the boss life bar appear. But... the boss is nowhere to be seen!
Let the player walk around some 10-15 seconds, and make the wall in front of them open it's many eyes and a huge mouth full of teeth. Yep, the boss is a Leviathan; and you are in front of its face.

Lore-wise, I think they did a great job. yeah, there aren't any new mobs, but the ones that are there were created by Seath!

I so wish ash lake was a pvp area, it seems like a massive waste of a cool area.

Exacly! Patch it so you can summon people, but not invade there. Or at least summon dragon spirits!

Also, one of the only two things that I'm afraid of, is the bottom of the Sea. And just thinking about that new underwater area idea scared me :pale:
