    Praise the scythe!

Post by Buggy Virus on Mon Jun 25, 2012 11:13 am

I just started playing with the scythe and it has a lovely moveset. It has good range and staggers most people one hit, unless they are over the 52 poise limit.

With its range and power you can trade blows with katana users with impunity. Along with its rolling attack you are able to get a quick sweeping strike that is perfect for dead angles and to finish players off.

And the best part is the two handed R2 which is a spinning attack that hits twice, it is sure to dead angle anyone trying to sneak around you for a backstab or who are strafe crazy and get up to 600 dmg on them, while staggering them, allowing you to reorient yourself for a normal attack which is long enough to hit them rolling away.

Oh and the jumping attack. . . so sweat, and hardly any fear of being parried on any of these.

I've tinkered with the lucerne which has the same moveset and it is definitely B to the A.

Bleh. I understand why people like them but I have always found them very ineffective against me. (I think I have lost to them once or twice maybe) the spinning attack is obvious and dodgeable dead angling only comes into it if you are silly enough to tank and that stagger if you miss would drive me crazy.

People have the tendency to spam the dash attack with scythes, and it's not hard to parry.

Or roll out of and punish, or tank and get a second hit more quickly if you both have over the 53 ish poise barrier. or...

It's a lot weaker than the G. Halberd with the same moveset though, I hardly ever see anyone using the scythe for that reason.

To clarify are we talking about the "scythe" or the "great scythe" there is a difference.

Judging by how he described the 2H R2 it's the scythe.

Why would anyone use the running attack? Are you talking about the great scythe?

Both of 'em. That's ALWAYS the very first thing people do. And a lot of times I just parry, unless it's a dead angle.

I like the normal scythe for its combo potential. It does the downward R1 then if you press R1 again soon enough it does the 360 attack. Its a great alt weapon for a dex build.
