    Occult /Divine weapons.

Post by KyleMelvin80 on Fri Jun 22, 2012 5:06 pm

I've been using my 50 faith toon for a while now.
And the output of the damage on my occult claymore is pretty mediocre.
Same goes for my divine sunlight straight sword.
Are either of these upgrade paths viable for pvp? Or are the better left to pve?

PvE, +15 and buff is horrendously powerful with faith occult even with claymore will just be mediocre.

I find the Occult Claymore to be just fine with 50 faith.

It has about 1.5x magic damage compared to its physical damage.

I might try upgrading a claymore with electricity, just to compare in-game, but I've had no problems with this build: http://goo.gl/BgyjL

Okay - with that 50 faith toon have a +15 claymore also and buff that up with SLB or DMB and then swap it to Occult after the Buff fades.

at 50 faith and 10 humanity chaos outdamages it and it is one of the better scaling occult weapons. 25 dex 40 str and 50 faith is required to equal chaos which requires 10 dex and 16 str :/

+15 will probably output more damage on enemies even with 50 faith, and still leaves it open to be buffed.

    +15 only has 327 AR.

With fully upgraded DMB it's 728 AR big grin

Occult has 521 AR, and lightning has 571 AR.

With my 16/16 str and dex,
A DMB on a two handed Claymore+15 will do over 800 damage.

My gravelord currently uses a lot of occult weapons (50 faith) Flamberge, Mace, Halberd, Battle Axe, Sunlight straight sword... With only 18 str and 16 dex. It does poor damage to people in heavy armor, so like they already said, its best to use as a secondary, for primary, same weapons +15 buffed are better.

I use them for pure faith builds and as back up for my faith hybrids.

521 split damage will round out to be closer to pure physical 327. And with the ability to buff it greatly outweighs ever using occult or divine.

Yea but when the buff wears off, its definitaly better to use the occult/divine, otherwise you will be using a stats scaling weapon without the stats

Well, I don't know what the rest of the build looks like.

I use an Occult Halberd on my DM build and no problems with it so far. I'd say it's always better than lightning because since the split damage on occult heavily favors magic damage, it'll end up doing more damage. I like divine less for the reason that the physical and magic damages are more balanced with each other.

In general though I think it's better to go with +15 and a buff. Those faith buffs can be crazy overpowered, I was once killed in three hits with a DMB pike (I had 1800 health!). Or even better, use a buffed weapon then switch to an Occult +5 as backup.
