Pretty similar architecture for the Burg but the trees are too dense to be Darkroot. We have forests just about everywhere like that here and at night they can give a nice sinister vibe under the right circumstances.

yeah was weird, went out for a spin this morning and passed the castle / burg-a-like and it struck a chord, never thought about it before.

gotta love that sinister vibe :-)

haha its been there years, you used to be able to get in but they locked it up now. We used to camp out there when we were kids, ace!

Some old geezer called Lord Leverhulme built a mansion and gardens in about 1900 for his missus, he imported bridges from india and built elaborate gardens and follies. Its mostly just ruins now tho, kinda makes it more interesting in a gloomy sorta way.

edit: i sound like some frickin tourist information guide haha. . come to Rivington, it rains all the time, yay!

That's alright. I've had a lot of posts like that about Western, New York and the Finger Lakes region here. Come to NY. It might snow in August! (it has at least once in my lifetime) or....
Come visit NY...we have lots of trees and cows and there's all sorts of local hooch available.

Damn, that's why Europe is awesome. So much history. Sure, where I live was founded in the 1700's, but we have nothing more than a few mining villages preserved.

Then visit NY. Our weather is miserable but it's always a different miserable. From November through February it can be frigid. March through May is muddy and rainy. June through mid September is unbearably hot and the rest is rainy and cold. Plus we get anomalies on a frequent basis like the heat wave last november when it was almost 80ºF for no reason or the days of summer when it goes from 90 to mid 50s. My mom used to say "If you don't like the weather just wait 5 minutes."

Come to Washington here in the States! It rains all the time! Haha!... no ruins though. Too "new." There's only pure forest or pure town, really. A bit inbetween, but nothing old. Anything built out in the forest and left is usually made of wood, not stone sad

If you love biking and the forest and outdoors.. that's seriously all what where I live is all about. And shooting and guns and huttin' game! We have a lot of rednecks over here haha!

sadly I havent played Demons souls as I only have a 360. It has been haunting my dreams though, keeping me awake at night to the point that i'm gonna grab a used PS3 and get on it, heard great things about it, quite a few say its harder than DS?

as someone who has played Dark Souls first, how would you say i'd find Demons Souls, what would you point out as its good/bad points, if that isnt too ridiculous a question? happy

I can help answer that. Bosses for the most part can be easier and there's almost always a way to cheap kill them without much danger. However, the invading NPCs in Dark Souls can't hold a candle in difficulty to the Black Phantoms with full world tendency. For example, Garl Vinland makes Paladin Leroy look about as menacing as a Chihuahua. And the other other Vinland (Selen), good luck......good luck. And there's plenty more where that came from. You might have an easy time overall since Dark has likely taught you the benefits of moving slowly and evaluating each and every place and enemy carefully. Some people prefer the weapons in Demons and I think they're different but equal. The atmosphere is just as sinister if not more so in some parts. Difficulty is going to be defined by your play style. I am better PvE than PvP so my skills mean I am weak against intelligent humanoids but can get most bosses without a huge problem. If you can afford a PS3 you'll almost certainly love it.

Eminsx you should go and play demons souls, you will most likely enjoy it if you enjoyed dark souls.theres some pretty major differences in how the whole undead and human form work. They call it soul form and body form, and when you're in soul form your health is halved. There is no humanity, instead there is world tendency. Have fun figuring it out tongue. The weapon upgrades are fairly different, and they're a little less obvious then dark souls. Crystal lizards appear after you kill bosses and if you miss them they can be gone for good. There are a lot less weapons, and armor is not upgraded it just has set stats. Spells/Miracles are dealt with differently, you need boss souls for the more powerful spells. There are not as many control mechanics, like plunge attack and run jump(a few others i cant remember off the top of my head).

I highly recommend playing through it blind with no guides. Although the levels layout i personally think is easier to understand(where you're supposed to go ext.) there's a lot of other game mechanics and items ext that aren't completely obvious. Trust me just tuff it out and play through blind, it will be very rewarding.

ah cheers for the sage advice fellas.

Yeah, youve always gotta go in blind for the first run I reckon, even though the end build was by far the crappest, my first run in DaS was by far the most fun, . .ignorance is bliss hey!!

Demons souls sounds simpler with regards to combat and stats etc which im looking forward to in many ways, sometimes its good to get back to brass tacks, strip it down to the raw materials and just grit your teeth and get on with it, sucks you in I think, but having said that Ive no idea what 'world tendency' is so i could be talking outta my sphincter!
Also looking forward to seeing the odd character from Dark Souls too, ive heard one or two were carried over.

Skarekrow, yeah i'm more PvE also, slightly obsessed with devising new builds and taking them through a new game so it stands to reason, love the surprise of an invasion too, especially when youre nuts deep in a battle already, get the pulse going!! ace!

Attention Necro Bump police.....yes I have revived this from not page two but page THREE of this section. However, I think it's cleaner than starting a whole 'nother thread and as you'll see this makes comparisons easier. I'm ready for the cuffs.....

So New York also has a Dark Root garden (see: most of the state)

    Daytime...

    Spoiler:

    Nightime....

    Spoiler:

And we even have a basin......technically a gorge but you get the idea......

    Spoiler:

Comparing the originals to my computer screen it's obvious that the laptop isn't doing the greens justice but still not bad I suppose. I could also share a picture of structures in the forest that look kinda like the Garden ones but I'll have to get them off my phone first.

aaaah mate, great work, I see what you mean now!! The Nighttime pic is really good, it makes a difference with the trees being more spaced out!, definitely has that hazy kinda feel too!

. . and that Basin looks amazing!!!! its sorta round, so i'd call it a basin big grin (no idea if thats how it works)
