    Your Favoirt Boss Song

Mine is defently Sif's Theme or Gwyn's.

Sif's for the bombastik nature and that you feel like a a**hole when the wolf start limping

Gwyn's is bloody flawless and trow's you off when you frist hear it

Well I can't pick one. So the list commences!

I like the Four Kings song. It just makes me feel like I'm in an epic fight, and the Kings are quite capable of providing this.

The Moonlight Butterfly deserves a mention. The fight is more an experience then anything else but the whole atmosphere of the fight is framed perfectly by the song. I was quite awe struck the first time I walked through that fog door.

You mentioned Sif and I support this. Sif has protected the grave of her fallen friend for so long and you have to march up to his tombstone and fight her. It's such a sad scene and again its framed perfectly by the music, which like the Butterfly is totally opposite what you would expect to accompany most video game boss fights.

And my last, Smough and Ornstein. The fight hits several emotional cues from the excitement at the beginning as they are intro'd and you fight outnumbered, to the sad scene if Smough falls first and the song moves with the scene and just captures and flows with the events on screen.

Smough and Ornstein's song has no competitors. Everything about it is just perfect.

I like all of them. But I like Gwyn's song even more than the rest.

The soundtrack includes them all, plus a few setpiece tracks. Any idea where the "Nameless Song" plays? Credits, maybe?

In Dark Souls, my favorite boss themes are Gwyn and O & S.
In Demon's Souls, it's Maiden Astraea and Storm King.

Even though they sound very different, I feel like Gwyn's theme and Maiden Astraea's theme serve similar roles in their soundtrack. They both stand out. There's a sort of distinction to the feeling they have, and it seems like they're meant to engage the player even more strongly than other themes. I like a lot of the songs in the DeS and DaS soundtracks, but both of these jumped out to me and were very memorable the first time I heard them. They're the only two boss themes that really had me paying closer attention to the music than the bosses on my first playthrough.

O & S is just epic as hell. Always gets me pumped and fits the excitement of the battle perfectly. And like Federally said, it always manages to match what's going in. The cutscene never kicks in at a time that feels wrong.

Storm King is one of my favorite examples of what I think demonstrates From's sense of taste and care. It's very different from most VGM boss themes. It's also basically as far as you can get, aesthetically, from something like the horribly inappropriate Dragon's Dogma theme song. It's a slow song with lots of drawn-out notes. A repetitive and droning track, but comprised of elegant sounding strings, woodwinds, and brass. It's very appropriate for looking up at the sky and seeing this giant enemy floating around in the distance.

    Double post!

So after refreshing my memory a few thoughts before my unveiling of favorite boss song.

First. Every single song is amazing. I just want that out of the way first.

Second. I think the Nameless Song is the credits and the Ancient Dragon song is for the Everlasting Dragon.

Keeping my points coming, Firelink almost won it but then I recalled the thread is "Boss" song so it's not eligible. The Asylum always felt like a tutorial or proving ground atmosphere and isolated from the rest of the game (even the first time I was there). So Firelink is really the welcome to the real game and this song captures the tone of the land insanely well and immediately works on your spirit.

    Honorable mentions:
Pinwheel- the song for this boss is chaotic and choppy and combined with him turning from the experiment gives the heebie jeebies almost as well as the combination of the backwards crab walk and spidery music from The Exorcist.

Ornstein and Smough- all the reasons stated above

Sif- if I had a puppy I would want it to be like her. The music can drain your will to fight and brings a lot of grief with it.

Seath- the primary focus of the music is great for a battle but there's little notes all over the place that make you feel his insanity and rotting mind

    And THE WINNAH!

    Spoiler:
Dark Sun Gwyndolin.....why? Gwyndolin is perhaps one of the more tragic and noble characters in the story in a game full of tragedy and nobility. The music for most in game bosses really makes me feel a primary feeling with some undertones that make it magical but in his case, Gwyndolin's music has two primary feelings that are both captured so well that there is no conflict. First let's go back to Sif, her music is similar in that it shows sadness and nobility. The vocals and the flute almost seem to try to tell us a story if only we knew the language. Now back to Gwyndolin's music. Sadness is deepened to despair and loneliness. Nobility is heightened to reverence and divinity. This music captures the outcast god perfectly.

i like the music in the centipede boss fight, it sounds like the music is laughing at you cause its one of those creepy opera's. it sucks when you have to fight him by yourself on ng++++ cause solaire always dies like 2min in the fight. the music just gets on your nerves.

Pinwheels is actually pretty good. Good song for the weakest boss.
    Nitos is another good one.
    Gwyns is my favorite.

    Tower Knight is the best!

But for Dark Souls, I'll have to say the Four Kings.

DeS soundtrack was just perfect. It's hard to name a favourite from it. Dark souls soundtrack is ok, but it goes too much to the direction where so many other game/movie soundtrack is. I'm so tired of those "epic" soundtracks with the same damn choir and those over used brass and percussion beats. I mean... Compare this:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lgTJ_XiZfMY

    And this:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K-rNVnrFQDg

Ok, The first one is definitely loud and epic, but which one is more atmospheric? The theme of maiden astrea really gives the feeling that something important is happening, something must be done.

Gwyn's Battle is my favorite song. Where you think there would be epic battle music, is soft, sad music displaying the fall of a once-mighty Lord.

    Perfect for a final battle.

I can't really say it's my favorite since I listen to the whole soundtrack on random alot of the time (silly), but the one I keep finding myself going back to listen to more than the others is Gwyndolin's/Moonlight Butterfly's Theme. It's just...haunting and enchanting at the same time.
