Ive never played it personally, but those i know that have, claim dark souls is more difficult, if by a small margin.

No it's just a personal opinion on which is harder. They are extremely similar in difficulty however have some gameplay changes that make it harder or easier depending on your style of play.
In the end however whichever one you play first you will consider harder.

There was a poll/thread asking that question. It was almost completely split. I personally haven't played it. But I have PS3. So I should grab it, I guess.

I honestly didn't think dark souls was super hard. It was frustrating, and I raged a little on my first play though, but not controller throwing, console smashing hard.

That's because it's not. All you have to do is be able to learn thins for yourself, however most 'gamers' these just want everything explained and given to them.
Once you understand how to play, the game is simple. Sure you'll still die, but you'll know why you died and how not to next time.
But for Demons vs Dark. It is only personal preference on which is harder, they are very similar.

As I believe it, Dark Souls mobs are harder, the bosses aren't. So once you get better than a beginner, and know how to tackle the mobs, it makes the game much easier. The bosses always got me when I first started, though haha! Well, Quelana

Its def a difficult game, but people like us, the people that play this game, love the difficulty....so therfore we dont see the game as "difficult" , just challenging. People that want to just boss through a game without much resistance think DS is the most difficult game ever and trade it back in for god of war or something.
That said, the most frustrating game for me is madden nfl.....im really good at it, and still its the only game thats ever made me want to break things.

Makes sense. Before I got the game people made me think it was crazy insanely hard game. One of the hardest things I've ever tried was Ninja Gaiden 2 on master difficulty.

It's impossible for me to know. I played DeS a lot. So, the mechanics were already familiar to me when I started DkS. That made it easier from the start.

Flamelurker from DeS is the only hard boss since he spams attacks.
But if you position yourself right you can force him to use the same attack which then makes the fight easy.
No real difference in terms of difficulty. At least invaders in DeS couldn't kill you in one hit.
