Re: The Elder Scrolls
Sounds very nice then. It makes me think of something that I thought was totally awesome in Deus Ex HR. There is an enemy that can turn invisible. If you shoot at them from afar, they will drop to the ground as if they died, then cloak and get up behind cover, and change positions. They'll wait a bit for help, or an opening then just kill you incredibly easily. The first time they did that, I knew I loved the combat in that game. Mechanics can be so impressive sometimes, but a bigger health bar? That just means the fight takes longer. That's actually why I don't really do NG++++ in Dark Souls, it sort of bores me.

Good to hear, then. Sounds like a superior mod.

It is very superior! It's called SkyRe I believe.
And Tolvo, I totally agree. I rarely go anywhere beyond the first playthrough.

I'd rather not talk about the MMO, Retcons always bother me.

Re: The Elder Scrolls
Yeah, I am not excited about Elder Scrolls Online. I would have much preferred a new game that supprted 4 player co-op, kind of in Borderlands style. LAN ES would be epic. But MMO's ruin gameplay.

Re: The Elder Scrolls
They are still going to make TES 6. Pretty much I view the MMO as a spinoff of sorts.

You've seen me in the Archives, I'm too much of a lore hound to like a game that tears apart the lore haha.

Re: The Elder Scrolls
Yeah, totally.
I will just wait another 5 years for TES:VI.
Probably playing Skyrim every couple of months, as I did with Oblivion while waiting for TES:V.
BUt honestly, if the next game has combat and graphics and a world like Skyrim, but had the story, openness, and level of depth of Morrowind, it would be INCREDIBLE.

Re: The Elder Scrolls
My main hope is in a new world. That's why I want Black Marsh so much. I don't want green mountains, plains and forests. Show me something crazy. Island Hopping in the Maormer Vine underwater jungles and trees, wading through dark and extremely deadly swamps in Black Marsh, seeing moving cities in Valenwood. I really want something really cool in the world while you are playing.

Re: The Elder Scrolls
No, is it some Orc who has magical abilities?
Maybe Dunmer is even more appropriate.

Re: The Elder Scrolls
An Orc that looks a lot like him with Ebony armor, wielding a two handed sword and using magic. If I am in trouble I also am a werewolf, so I can go beast form and become Ganon! I wish you could be a wereboar though, Skyrim just doesn't feel right without them or Werebears.

Amen to that. Really the scenery in Skyrim is very similar to that in Oblivion but with less colour and less variation in the architecture than Morrowind. I want something a bit more esoteric in the next game. Skyrim isn't the only game where I've found the settings a bit 'meh' though. The first time I played Halo I thought it looked like The Lake District in England.
I'm going to post a new thread asking people to post their favourite/least favourite game worlds.

But what would you do there?
I'd like to see a game where you travel to sections of each via ships or caravans and stuff....

Re: The Elder Scrolls
Couldn't you have asked the same of Skyrim before they created a Civil War and dragons? They can create something to make almost anywhere viable for a game setting.

Re: The Elder Scrolls
Actually here is something interesting they could do. If they build the next game up with the same system as Skyrim, it would mean they could treat it as a second CD expansion. Either with a new updated form of Skyrim to have via patching or purchasing, it would mean you could play as your character and travel to the entire other province. The only thing is during travel you would have to switch CD's. The only issue is the graphics and mechanics couldn't be improved much, but it would allow for the game to be more like Arena or Daggerfall where you can go through multiple provinces.

Re: The Elder Scrolls
I've often wondered what Daggerfall was like. Morrowind was my first Elder Scrolls game. Was it the first and where was it set. Apologies for my ignorance.

Re: The Elder Scrolls
I just know about them from the Wiki, although you can download the entire games for the PC, as they are old and the companies don't care if people do it now. On the UESP wiki if you check the Daggerfall or Arena articles, they have a download link for both. When I get a new PC I plan to do that.

They actually encouraged people downloading the first one when oblivion came out if I recall correctly. Although I've only played since Morrowind as well

Re: The Elder Scrolls
Black Marsh would be much, much worse than B-Town in terms of framerate. Awesome, but a lot to deal with system wise.
I was disappointed in Skyrim, Dragons couldn't destroy buildings, I want a world that can be changed, See the townspeople struggle to rebuild a destroyed shop after a dragon spewed fireballs at it, see forests burn, let the town AI be realistic.
And One thing I really miss, was random assaults like in FO-NV. The Legion would attack Camp Forlorn Hope on occasion, such a dynamic would was impressive. I really hoped they would go more into that. The only "Battles" are one time things, I wanted a constant struggle. Imagina capturing a fort, then stumbling on it days later recaptured. Its less of a "war" than a political showdown. And wheres the open field combat? Two armies chargingg at each other in say, the area West of Whiterun? GotY for sure!
