Lag free PvP?

A lot of people complain about lag. But i think it’s good that there is at least a little lag, since parrying would become way to OP otherwise. Str weapons would not be used a lot since their long windup would let you parry them. And dex weapons would only be used to hit once and roll/flip away, even more so than what people are doing now. Spears would be really OP since you can’t parry them unless you’re standing right next to them. Spells would be next to useless since you can’t hit anyone without lag, unless they are occupied with something else.

This is just my opinion, and i haven’t really thought about it. What do you think about lag free PvP?

I hate the timing being off because of lag. If having more parries as a result would be the unintended consequence I think that those heavy weapon users would just have to adjust.

As a str weapon wielder, I hate lag. Lag is the bane of my pvp. Front bs is rediculous and getting parried, well, thats just something you have to live with now. I will take lag free pvp anyday.

It would just draw out the fights like it did in demons. Its fairly uncommon for heated battles to last 5 minutes or more in DKS. In demons the longer fights could last 30. Longer still in either or both parties were faith builds.

But but no lagstabs!

I chock this up to the prevalence of backstabbing in Dark Souls, not greater lag. Fights lasted longer in Demon's Souls because hitting for 2/3 of someone's health in a single attack wasn't as common of an occurance. There was still a decent amount of lag in Demon's Souls, it just wasn't as abusable because even with it backstabs were difficult to pull off.

If lag weren't existant in Dark Souls PvP, it would be the greatest thing since whatever the greatest thing before sliced bread was. Strength weapons would simply have to adjust and learn to time hits and strike with the full length of their weapon like spears, parrying would become a more universal and less niche skill, and backstabs would basically not exist. It's mostly that last part that makes me the most upset that lag-free isn't a thing...

Smaller hitbox. While the fact that it had less lag due to using servers and not peer-to-peer systems does help as well, it was mostly the fact that backstabs couldn't be done without being squarely behing your opponent. If in Dark Souls you can be 120 degrees around you opponent and pull off a backstab, in Demon's Souls it was more like 160 degrees. In less numbery terms, in Dark Souls you really just have to be a little bit behind the opponent's shoulder, but in Demons Souls you had to be unable to see your opponent's face.

In demons you only got bsd if you tried to heal or cast up close. The lock bs still worked but so did the counter bs so it was rarely an issue.

Essentially, you only got bsd if you made a stupid mistake or if they were stealthers.

Yeah, hit box for bs and timing on parries were insanely difficult compared to now.

I'm all for a lag free environment. Seeing myself already getting up from a roll away from someone just to see the BS animation happen with the guy 10 feet in front me is a bit frustrating at times...

I'm sure the other guy is saying the same thing sometimes although I rarely BS.

Lag can SMD and die. In a fire.
