Should I get it?

Should I get this even though the servers are going down in a two weeks? I assume that it's doable without other people but just asking.

Its a great single player experience, I have almost never played it online, and I loved it. If you can get, and you enjoy Dark Souls, then I would suggest picking it up

If you can : Get the European version of it .
You will be able to play Online when NA servers are shut down :/ .

Frankly to me if the only reason you're buying a game is to play the online, you shouldn't get it in the first place.

Why's that ? I don't understand what you want to say with that
NA and EU versions are the exact same game .
The only difference: NA get shut down now. EU probably too but not yet .
So to get the full experience he should get the EU version

I'm in the EU, im not knocking him buying a different version, think you misunderstand my point :|

just saying that him contemplating whether or not to buy the game just because the online might not be around much longer isn't the right approach in my eyes.

And my point was : He gets to play the Singleplayer and the Online part on top of it .

First, let me say thank you for all the input. I knew I could count on this opinionated community. Second, I am sorry for being at the core of a disagreement. Third, I will be getting the game. Fourth, I am alright with it being single player only. Most of my gaming history has been with single player games, Metal Gear, Legacy of Kain, Resident Evil, God of War, so that doesn't bother me. I was just asking because the other players are definitely an inextricable part of the Dark Souls experience and so I couldn't really picture the game without it.

Also a question, even if I own the EU version, wouldn't I still be connecting to American servers?

If you're used to the multiplayer in Dark Souls you'll be disappointed with the multiplayer in Demons Souls. The system is for all intents and purposes the same but the lag is far greater. Animations such as backstabs and ripostes may involve an enemy bsing you from a couple meters to your front.

Its overall a great experience. I dug my copy up today for some nostalgia. The game is nearly exactly the same as dark souls, there are some gameplay differences and I feel demon's captures that feeling of hopelessness a little better than dark.

I think if you wanted to play EU online, you'd need an EU copy and an EU PSN account.

I honestly feel though that in Demon's compared to Dark Souls, the online has nowhere near the emphasis it does in Dark. I feel it's much more single player and story oriented due to the way it's set up.

Get it. I agree with Serious. I barely touched online (just to invade as the monk a few times) and still love it as much as Dark

It is realy frustrating to try to get an coop or pvp seasion in Demon´s. Even in coop-hot-spots like flamelurker or pvp-dedicated arenas like 4-1 you can spend like an hour or so waiting.
But when you play this game after you beat Dark Souls you shouldn´t encounter any problems. You realy don´t need to coop and for pvp just stick to Dark.
The bigest disadvantege Demon´s has to Dark is the Nexus.It makes grinding and farming a bit more anoying, since you have to watch two loading screens befor monsters respawn.
The second bigest disadvantege is: you can´t slide down ladders.
Other than that its just as good.

I found this too, as well as seeing as you run like an olympic athlete, you climb ladders like a guy with only one leg, or an elderly person. Takes the mick really

Yes, pick it up used an play the hell out of it for the next six weeks. You will be glad you did.

About the Online thing :
If you have the EU version you play on EU servers . Same with US
But you don't need to have an EU PSN .
I know it because i have an EU PSN but was able to play on US servers (i own both EU and US versions )

Ok, so I got it! I am very excited, especially for that ignorance that I so much enjoyed in the beginning of Dark Souls. My best memories of Dark Souls are from when I was scared of everything.

One more question, are build types and leveling similar to Dark Souls or is their something I should know?

Yep!! that is exactly what I will be doing!!!

Some of the magics work very differently than in Dark Souls (weight, magic, etc.) Take some time to try it out and test out some features to get a feel before you delve too deep.

Stop asking and play the game blind you complete dunce

The whole beauty of the 1st time is you have no bleeping idea where you're going or what you're doing. Don't spoil that

only thing I'll say, is try and give yourself conditions to make it harder for yourself first time round, since as you've played Dark quite a bit (i presume), it's relatively simple and straightforward with the odd sprinkled death.

+1 to serious for the tough love.

Add my alt in psn if you want someone to co-op with. I am going to start a new character next week and run the game one last time for nostalgia and old times sake. I would be happy to co-op levels with you if you would like. I have been really sick and have not been on for a little bit, but I will start later this week and I play nights from about 11 est to 1 am.
