Where do these souls come from?

Don't know if this has been discussed, but why do you get souls (don't remember if it's a few hundred, or thousand) every time you jump down the ladder that's just before the bonfire while entering the great hollow> I found it an ok farming spot at low level. Jump down, climb back up, walk down the hall a bit, then turn around and jump back down. Rinse, repeat. If it's just a glitch, well...sorry for bringing it up here.

I've actually never been down there so i don't know what you're talking about.

I have to try this...It might be enemies falling off ledges in blightown trying to get to you maybe.

that happen to me i don't now exactly but must be a farming place or something

its enemies reacting to your movement and falling off
