    40/40 Build - which armour?

Post by darkREPRISAL on Thu Jun 14, 2012 8:29 am

    Hello all, me again...

I'm aiming for a 40/40 build, focusing on Uchi+15 with QFS as backup, and I've realised I might be doing something wrong...

I started this journey thinking "no, I don't want to be some fatty tank that just sponges hits, I wanna be a fast, agile ninja with a sword that does HP melting damage"....BUT, I've realised I'm wearing Havel's Armour, and using the Eagle Shield and basically 'tanking' with this setup by letting bad dudes hit me then countering back...

Now, this is surely *not* what I intended originally? I'm reliant on Havel's Ring (oo-er) to stop me moving like I'm stuck in treacle, and I want rid of it...the armour, Havel's Ring, and I want an armour set that offers *some* poise and protection (can't go Naked just yet), but also doesn't weigh a tonne and can allow me to use RoFaP alongside the Wood Grain ring...

Any suggestions guys? I picked up the set near Ceaseless last night (Gold Hemmed is it??) that I see online (as in, YouTube) quite a bit, but would welcome your suggestions...

Oh, and whilst I think on, should I stop being a wuss and ditch the shield?? 2 hand everything with Grass Crest on my back?? Is that do-able??

    Sorry for all the questions...

    http://mugenmonkey.com/darksouls/?c=3232818432185697 this is do-able

but if you want better then you need to be more specific about possible secondary weapons like crossbow composite bow or spear or axe ect.

Also then if you are really only going to be using the uchi most of the time then its pointless to have 40 strength you would be better off having only 27 strength since when you occasionly want to use Strength weapons you can two hand them you will see all the beifits of have 40 str.

Here is and example http://mugenmonkey.com/darksouls/?c=2522685778673857 all the power of a str build with grt sword but with 13 extra Sl points that you can put to somthing more useful like more attunment slots.

@Gk - Why do you always suggest the MOM mask on EVERYTHING? I mean, sure, it's useful, but, boy is it ugly.

@OP - The Gold-Hemmed Set has 0 poise just FYI. Good poison and fire resist, though.

Because a standard rappier user that complets a back stab with the honets ring on on average does about 1500 dmg to 1700dmg on the flip side most great sword users (with out Horn ring) who complete a back stab ususall do about 700 to 800. I am of the opinion that an abundance of health amounting to 1500 on the minimum and 1800 when possible is the best course of action when preparing for long battles or battles where the enemy might succed or spam a back stab.

And I belive a qoute from some where in the game is that a worrior does not worry what will look good on the battle field but what will work good on the battle field.

I dont dress toons to your standard I dress them to mine.

And - that quote is generalized to real life situations. Warriors that wore heavy armor would block more and people who would dodge would wear lighter armor - this is why I say considering the armor that build is wearing get that DWGR off of it. Medium roll is better in fact if you can make use of the backstep invincibility frames. Just my two cents.

Hrm, you want medium armour go for dark armour, its good and light. If you are looking for the key poise breakpoint at low 50's you may need some heavy in there too.

The build Im using right now is http://www.mugenmonkey.com/darksouls/?c=1699464338542728 it doesnt have a dwgr and your thinking to deaply about that qoute.

I dont think Navy Seals complain that their gear is cheating cause the enemies arent using it.

Haha - true - I was analyzing the quote a bit too much, and tbh I just frown upon the DWGR due to how ridiculous it looks aswell as the lack of people realizing that medium roll is better than the flip - the flip is overrated imo - oh no! A few more invincibility frames...

Sorry about the minor rant, and that build looks interesting however I would swap the Lightning avelyn for a Heavy Xbow or Light Xbow and use heavy bolts winking It will do more damage and has less of a recovery time - you can swap it out almost instantly and pop a shot - put it away before people realize what has happened.

Anyways - I am not a fan of heavy equipment nor the masks - I condone people using them, as I can see how great it is, but I will stick with my Crown of the Great Lord or my Pharis hat xD I just find it amusing running lighter equipment combinations that use Wolf Ring - Fast Roll w/o DWGR and still have between 56 poise - 77 poise

I got trolled for a couple of days - then another one was on a thread where someone posted a picture of naked priscilla therefore I constructed a rant against him saying that he should consider the younger members of the forum and other people before posting it.
Then the majority of my posts after that in the thread were downrepped.

What there was a nude pic here. thats bad!

However if I were at my home that would be another story altogether.

On the topic before . I use the dwgr win I want fast paced combat while still having 76 poise and I almost always wear a mask when im not cosplaying tarkurs or Oscar or a dark wraith.

If you're gonna use a 40/40, you have to have a strength weapon in there somewhere.
    For Example http://tinyurl.com/7phvlnz
