    Vitality build. Need some tips.

Post by Ecko on Wed Jun 13, 2012 11:19 pm

So, here's what I have planned:
    http://mugenmonkey.com/darksouls/?c=4653367666532891

EDIT: I realized just now that I put a pyro flame in one of my left hand slots on the planner. Just ignore that, it was an accident.

Now, firstly, I'd like to know if the stats seem good. I want to either go with that set up right there or perhaps I could just use strength based weapons. With lower dexterity I would be PVP'ing against lower level enemies, making my huge health bar an even bigger advantage though some of my weapons would do significantly less damage. A third option is to not level up Dex at all but instead put those levels into more Vitality.

Secondly, I'm not sure what shield I want to use. I'm thinking either the Grass Crest for the stamina regeneration as well as the fact it doesn't weigh over 30 pounds, the Stone Greatshield because it seems to have really good defense percentages in general, or the Giant's Shield for the same reason (Though it has higher lightning/lower magic defense).

Lastly, I'd like some armor suggestions. Something with good poise is what I'm looking for, but still being able to stay under 50% equip weight at 40 endurance. No i'm not going to be using the Ninja Flips ring, lol.

The stats are fine, you're doing a basic 40/40 build after all. You're going to lack anything super amazing, but you can make up for that with a good set up.

If you need a great shield, like need need, just go Iron Round Shield. As for weapons, you have so many to pick from, what weapons do you prefer the most. I will say keep an off-hand composite bow just for range, chaos it if you plan on purging all your dex.

I wouldn't call this a Vitality build. Vitality builds are builds that have VIT as the dominant stat, dominant meaning over 70 stat points to Vitality. This is basically a 40/40 build with a high amount of Vitality.

P.S. - Hard to give you concrete armor suggestions if we don't know what your weapon load-out is going to be.

For a 40/40 use a Str based weapon like the Great Club and a Dex based weapon like a katana or rapier. That should complement your build.

    Oh, that's riiiiiiight lol.

    Sorry for overlooking that guys.

I plan on using the Claymore and Gravelord Sword mostly, but occasionally switching to the Zweihander or even maybe the Murakumo when I'm in a "hulk smash" kind of mood.

Also the Demon's Spear will have the highest effective AR possible with those stats. And the Claymore, G.Halberd and all the C/C scaling weapons.

Jeez, you have to pick the heavier gear to use at once!

Murakumo&Gravelord+MOM Mask+Stone Armor+Iron Bracelet+Hollow Soldier Waistcloth allows you to hit 53 poise whilst still maintaining mid roll.

Bam! Also, the bastard sword gets a better AR than the claymore with those stats.

    Oh, I completely forgot!

I'm also considering using the hand axe after how effective I've heard it can be.

And for some sets like the Paladin or Golem sets I could stay under 50% with them on after putting just a single extra point into endurance so I'm considering that.

Well, I figured I would add my thoughts. I have an elemental 120 build that I use all the time and in essence it is a vitality build. It is a fun build with high vitality and endurance. This way you can wear heavier armor and use heavier weapons. Also, you would be able to 2-hand larger strength weapons. You will probably not be out damaging most players, but with the heavier armor and high vitality you might survive longer.

Lately I have been wearing a mix of Wander and Black Iron armor and using smaller weapons. I figured it might give you some ideas.

My old element+vit build.. switch between 2hand Zweihander and 2hang Pike manually depending on scenario.

Don't exactly remember the precise stats, but I'm pretty sure I was only SL80 range with the above stat.

Learn to do manual switching, so you can have better weapon & armor of choice.

Elemental gear at base stats isnt flexible as a 40/40 build. Right now he can effectively wield a majority of the weapons with decent damage. He can still use resins and if he's good at menu swapping he can have a massive arsenal to fight any situation.

Plus, at 40/40, +15s will outdamage elementals.

OK guys, thanks for all the help. I think I got my build all figured out now.

    Here's the finished product: http://mugenmonkey.com/darksouls/?c=2187227926002727

A small note, the two weapons in the right hand slots are just placeholders. I plan on switching those out just depending on my mood or the situation I'm in. However I chose those two particular weapons to exemplify that even the heavy *** zweihander is not too much for my new build to carry. XD

Also, the Avelyn I put in their is a regular +15 one. Would a +5 Lightning Avelyn be better in the average PVP match despite the split damage?
