Empty Chest behind Gwyndolin

After you kill Gwyndolin, you can find three chests behind him. One has the Sunlight Blade miracle, the one on the right has the Brass Armor, but the one on the left was empty for me.

It's pretty rare in this game to find an closed empty chest like that. Anyone know if that's always empty, or did I miss something?

This is a mystery just like the Pedant. No one ever found anything there.

I'm led to believe that it contains the Maiden set if you arrive there prior to visiting Duke's.

I could be incorrect, but this is what I am told.

I'm going to Dukes now. I haven't stepped foot in there yet.

I read somewhere that it is speculated that the empty chest contained another Brass armor set, only that this one was given to the Lady of Darkness

That chest contains the Maiden Set if you don't go to Dukes archives before killing Gwyndolin. It has been 100% confirmed.

Did you saved Reah in your game? Has she gone hollow?

Nope, I finished the Catacombs, but I haven't gone far into TotG yet. I'm getting the lords souls now and I just finished Lost Izalith.

I don't know the trigger, but I have found the Maiden Set in that chest. And when I killed Gwyndolin after I picked up the set in Dukes Archives, when I opened that chest it was empty.

Just checked the Wiki. It says that the maiden set can be found in that chest or on a corpse in Dukes. I don't know what the trigger is.
