Something odd in the forest today

So I was invading on my bow/int forest hunter, using red tear stone ring for some decent damage, and then I invade this guy.

He was wearing what looked like full hollow thief gear, with a bandits knife and every thing. So I just dance around him, knowing if I attack in any way he will get a backstab and one shot me, and it should be easy enough to wait for some help. After about 20 seconds of this another forest hunter invades and runs towards us. I back up a bit, the other foest hunter attemps to fire a souls spear at the host.

Suddenly the host is right behind me, I get backstabbed, and the other phantom dies. He just dies. No health came up, the host never attacked him, nothing. He just fell over and died.

The thing is, this happened twice after I invaded the same guy again. Does anyone know what happened? Is this some hack or glitch I don't know about?

Sounds like extreme lag. I have seen other phantoms, NPCs and regular enemies appear to be standing in the same spot without moving only to find out later they are dead, when they suddenly fall down or vanish. Not often, but every once in a while.

He probably killed the other invader first and you did not see any of the fight, and then bs'd you before you even saw him move. He might have already seen you die, prior to you seeing you die and prior to you seeing him move.

My guess is it's something Broke has showed some video of. Some gamers can use less than ideal routers or switches to generate crazy lag advantages. So while it appears that the other hunter just so happened to die and the guy teleported across half the forest, he could have been lagging so bad that he killed the other hunter with a teleport backstab (aka ultimate lagstab) and did the same to you before ANY of the animations had a chance to catch up. I've fought a few on PS3 that were in front of and out of range of my Scythe even, I take a swing to get them to respect space and I'm in Backstab victim animation.

If the guy is an IT genius, he could easily command prompt the modem to lag whenever he wants. And in ways to make it so he doesn't send out nearly any information, but he receives all he wants, and since the game is wired to show actions (damages, bs, etc) before you see them, he could have backstabbed the other guy, backstab you, all while he barely sends any information out to the server, which would mainly be actions. But he sees all that you're doing.

That's if he hacked his modem. Which is extremely illegal, because that also probably means he gets max internet without paying.

PS: all of what is said pretty much means the following: He keeps his download speed the same, but chokes and controls his upload speed. 'Tis why my internet SUUCKS so bad. I have a bad download speed, but an ok upload speed. Meaning they see things fast and easy, but I don't see things fast and easy, but my information is sent out normally ANYWAY. I can get lag BS'ed SO easily.

I hadn't even thought of that. God, I'm glad I only fought him a few times. Theres no way I could have beaten him if what you guys said was the case

i alsmot feel loathed to pay so much for my fibre optic broadband when someone else comes into my game with a piss awful connection and just lag everywhere

lols my "job" requires very little time or effort on my part i say job because well i spend most of my day sat on my arse waiting for inspiration then i go into a studio and record it lol
