Strength- 27 is the new 40

A conversation that me and a friend Billy had that led me to believe that many other players of dark souls are under a common misconception.

EDIT: this is all with the understanding that its more efficent to use a weapon two handed and that its a waste to lvl STR to high unless you plan on using your weapon only one handed.

Depends on the 1H and 2H move-sets, if the 1H move-set is a lot better then you still want 40. But if you're just gonna 2H it all the time then yeah, it's worthwhile just staying at 27

I see str guys throw away their shield all the time. I just giggle and put away my glove and bait an attack, then fire+10 g. halberd them from afar Heck, if they're using the DGA, I just attack them from afar anyway because they can't touch me.

If they have the DGM, and a shield? I keep my distance like a mofo. I hate getting to mid range. I'll either ues GC up close or try my luck with my GF

it all depends on the moveset, i think most of us already know about the whole 27=40str but the move set is worth abother 13 points into str, i love just using the regular r1 one handed to bait people to attack me and i end up parrying them which works pretty good, specially against aggresive opponents. i alwasy stop at 46 for the dga but recently ive been into the greataxe which is awesome, the difference in ar is not that big and the ga is a lot lighter.

tbh 2 handing a weapon is only usefull in certain situations being able to weild it with one hand and have the option to parry, that is allways usefull

There's always the option of parrying, then switching to two hand for the repost. But that really only works in PvE. I wonder if someone could get good at that in pvp...

its not that hard lol its harder pulling off the parry just move forward as you 2 hand then attack

look this thread is about whats good for the stats not whats good for the personality of the player.

I was saying that 27 while two handing is more effective use of SL points as far as before diminishing returns set in I wasnt concerned with having prarry or the situations that would make two handing less effective.

A good player works well with any tools at their disposial be it prarry, baiting, casting, timing, debilitating, or traping the opponent or enemy player. just cause the other player cant prarry like you doesnt mean they wont win against you.

Yep, 27 is indeed equivalent to 40 if you plan on 2hing however I would always advise having the strength to wield your weapon one handed incase you screw up

Indeed, I always use my Str weapons with the minimum 2 handed Str or 27 Str. I would like to 1 hand them, but the waste of Str points per AR is punishing. Some have 1 handed good attacks, like the sweeping 1 handed roll R1 of most Great Hammers, it has good range.

And by this I hereby say that the Great Club is the most OP Str weapon in the game. Only 28 Str to 1 hand, only 12 weight. About 650 AR when 2 handed. Punishing 2 handed roll R1, sweeping 1 handed roll R1.

It is nasty yeah. Plus beating someone up with a big stick. Y'know. Never get's old.

then let me guess you police high trafic areas where theres lots of player action and when you run into someone with a black toon your'll beat them and plant twinkling titanite on their body and have them sent to the asuylem.
