Battle of Stoicism(New PVP Mode)

Taken from The Facebook page quote and all. Seems this is our first look at a new PVP mode. Notice neither of the fighters are phantoms?

This is a battle between experienced warriors in a newly implemented battle mode. Each warrior equips his own style.

Worth a +1, thanks for posting as i dont do FB so never would have seen it.

I am a bit concerned about how this will affect covenant pvp as well. Things are already a bit slow during non-peak times (on Xbox at least), and I can easily imagine how slow it could get with all the dedicated pvp'ers only hanging out in this "battle arena." I am not saying this is a bad idea, but there needs to be some sort of incentive to still do invasions and such.

Can't wait for this it'll be great to kick some of my friends butt! *cough* Wyrm *cough* :p

I'm very interested to see some details on how this will work.

I request a high roller match where you bet a certain amount of souls or humanity or both.
Also, one handing his weapon without anything in his left hand? What a fool.

Well that would require servers and I doubt we're gonna get servers a year after release

This would suffer from the problem any unregulated betting has. People would lrig the matches to get what they want.

Against the concept of an arena. Anyone into pvp enough to really want duels or 2v2s, even 3 player free for alls, knows how to arrange them, and arena will be detrimental to the regular invasion mechanics.

Also a fair point. Which is why I'm wishy washy on the topic. Still excited to see what FROM has up their sleeve as I'm pretty sure it will be good. Maybe its just a modification of current mechanics.

You all fail to understand the promise of MATCHMAKING.

No long will you have to "set up" these duels, they will simply be at your fingertips.

^Thats what the RSS is for.

The point is setting them up is easy, while leaving random invasions the main pvp. If/when the arena becomes the main pvp for pvpers, those left doing random invasions are griefers and the people who just want the kill. They'll thrash the newer players lik they do, but there won't be the nice guys who were looking for duels to offset the d***s.

Are you serious? The so-called "griefers" are the whole point of Dark Souls. That is how they were intended to be...

By griefers I mean the guys who invade at low sls n the burg or sens with maxed gear. I seriously doubt thats intended. The game is difficult but never straight unfair. fighting a dude in full havels with a +5 lightning claymore, while I use a +3 shotel and base knights armor is unfair.

Sometimes you have to die. That is the price you pay for playing Dark Souls.
