    a new technique?

Post by OakshottXII on Sun Jun 03, 2012 12:40 pm

while killing the A.I. forest hunters (the bandit in this case) i struck him as he charged me while 2-handing his axe with his block up and inccured block damage but no block stun and attacked immedietly after i had made contact. i was interested and wanted to test it and it does work somewhat. i practiced with an undead crossbowman since the bolts do the same damage so i can see if it worked or not, and it is possible i have done it but im not sure if it will work 100% of the time or maybe i dont know the correct timing. but it is reminiscent of an idea that has been in my head before and was also suggested by like minded individuals in that there should be a way to deflect or swat away an attack and follow up with your own attack or kick but not as difficult as parrying or prehaps to replace parrying. i will keep testing it and see what i get. if any one wishes to help msg my gamer tag: BOLTON44

If you can do this in PvP, then I'm sold!

oakshot I believe what you encountered is an instant block. I could be wrong but check this out and see if its what you mean (bit of a way into the vid, sorry)

It's called no block-stun blocking. Super clever, eh? If you tap and immediately release block at the moment of impact, you'll block the attack and suffer no block stun. It actually absorbs less stamina also. Tested this a whole bunch. It's hard to get used to in PvP.

Just remember, take lag into consideration. It has similar timing to a parry but with a smaller window, I'd actually say it's a lot harder to land haha. Though that could just be that I personally never got adjusted to using it in combat.
