So....(strategy games)

So i have recently rekindled my love for strategy...been playing the crap out of Civilization V recently...can anybody reccomend some good ones? Besides Starcraft...i didnt much care for the first one...found it boring the colors hurt my eyes and im not really into the whole fighting space aliens thing...or whatever it is you fight in that game...

I prefer RTS but turn based is cool too...obviously since i like civi.

Rome Total War!!! Or any total war game, they're a cool lot.

ummm Empire Earth I or II? the series has been discontinued but both of those are fun.

Sins of a solar empiure! Get the 2nd one too whiel your at it.

I have Sins of a Solar Empire and quite a few Total Wars. I gotta agree, they are all great games!

Company of Heroes. Groundbreaking RTS.

Homeworld 2. A gorgeous and unique RTS.

Shame you don't like futuristic warfare; you could have enjoyed the Dawn of War series.

Empire Earth II is great, III not so much. What I played of the Total War: Shogun 2 demo was great, and Age of Empires 1&2 were great. I really enjoy a good game of Warcraft III as well.

And Men of War, but that ones less a game and more "Tactical simulator" (seriously..)

One of the most fun ones, as said, is Sins of a Solar Empire. As far as I'm concerned the most advanced and economically challenging strategy game is still Supreme Commander, and it has a load of mods for new units and gameplay changes.

If you wait till later this year... XCom: Enemy Unknown is coming out. I have been waiting for another one of these to pop up since the 90's (I think I just dated myself). Absolutely amazing and it is being made by Firaxis (spelling?), the same makers of Civilization. It is my most anticipated game of the year.

I say rome total war. Best thing out there.

Any Command & Conquer that isn't Red Alert 3. I've been a fan since the beginning. Although RA3 does have Tim Curry.

@OP what kind of stategy game are you looking for? Mico (less units, more attention) Maco (less attention, more units) complex(MoW), simple (C&C) Sci-Fi(Starcraft), Medieval (Total War/Stronghold), WWII (CoH), Modern War(C&C,CoH Mod), its really dependent on what youre looking for.

Stronghold Crusader, probably my favorite RTS of all time. I wish I could still play it, but this damn computer just can't handle it...I don't need friends or family...Just the desert with my archers marching across it ready to lay down suppressing fire.

Im looking for something fairly complex...i used to love C&C and i have 3...on xbox for some reason. Ive grown bored with its simplicity...I think Total War is what i want...im downloading the demo for SHOGUN2 now...its really big...i think it said the full game was 32gigs :affraid: thats gonna take me awhile to download if i decide on it.

Im not really in to the sci-fi(dont like Starcraft) thing but Sins of a Solar Empire looks really interesting. MoW and CoH both look really interesting as well.

I will look into Stronhold as well.
