    Partial blocking? Empty Partial blocking?

    Post by JY4answer Wed Jan 18, 2012 2:44 am

I heard that parrying can partially block attacks even if the parry misses. Is this true? If so, I might try it instead of just dodging everytime. Thanks.

Yeah its works well as you get reduced damage. You gotta only just miss - time it tho.

it does actually however its not the full damage reduction meaning if if your shield had 100% physical reduction it would only block like 60-70% of the damage so yeah not really that helpfull but its something

Not just shields though. You get partial blocks with the parrying dagger and... your bare fists, too!

I suppose those would give less dmg reduction?

Umm, no... I haven't tested it, but I'm pretty sure a partial block from parrying is the same regardless of what you used to perform it. Partial block with a 100% phys block shield is the same as with your bare fists. It's a function of the parry, I don't see why it should be affected by blocking stats.

Like I said, I haven't actually tested it, but I've gotten partials off ultra greatswords with my fists and taken practically no damage.

I guess I could test it on mobs.

Yeah it seems a partial block damage reduction from a slightly mistimed parry is the same across all weapon/shields/fist/etc.

It's the sole reason i try to parry as much as i do, without "partially blocking" you would die 90% of the time when a guy starts to swing violently at you.

    Partial Block= saves your ass.

it's needed, but not amazing.. better to wait for an attack you know you can parry rather than desperation parrying just because of partial block in my opinion
