Shoe on the other foot. Empty Shoe on the other foot.

    Post by Kirk-Barb Tue May 29, 2012 8:34 pm

I've been through the Upper Burg with three different characters and my last one has stayed there at lvl 11 to host with +3 beginner warrior equipment and a +5 lg sword. Don't ask me why... I just seem to like battling against over powered equipped foes. It has improved my footwork and attack patterns, especially since I do it at under 1/2 weight limit. I die a lot, but when I do get a victory it is sooooooo sweet!

Last night, however, I was working on my pyro-mage, Swamp Witch Barbie ( in honor of my wife big grin ), lvl 21 and was passing through Upper Burg on my way to farm blue chunks from the crystal golems in the Basin. I get invaded. He catches up with me in the area behind the three firebombers, near the tower with the crossbowman in it. I give him space to get a good look at me. He is in a little ninja suit armed with a dark hand. I'm wearing crimson skirt, dingy shawl, princess crown, with the spider shield.... it goes well with the skirt according to my fashioneasta wife 8) ....and armed with the escote.

He starts the battle with a shrug. I'm too close to trust a response, so I simply wait. He must have taken my inaction as a sign I was going to gesture or adjusting equipment, because he went for my right side towards my back. I meet him up close, switch from escote to +5 chaos pyro glove and toast him with great combustion. Fight over. I get souls and collect a humanity. I get where I'm going and begin farming.

I start thinking about the encounter. Mulling it over and now I'm starting to feel sorry for the guy. Even feeling a little guilty. I mean I fried him like an ant on a sunny day under a magnifying glass. I check his soul donation on the Wiki chart and the guy was only lvl 6. Arrrrrgh... I have been in his shoes, only as a host. I keep farming. Then I begin to ponder my own chance of becoming Swamp Witch Barbie, darkwraith scourge of blighttown. So I check the Wiki. You need to kill Siff and the Four Kings!!!!! That guy killed Siff and the Four Kings and he couldn't handle my toon that hasn't even finished all of Blighttown and is played by a below average skilled player?
I'm not feeling guilty anymore. Shoe on the other foot. 3358384175

he could have glitched over 99 cracked orbs (buy them from kaanthe on a high level file then bb glitch them over to a new character) so... yeah i doubt he beat 4 kings at lvl 6 even though it is possible most people don't

Or he could have just used one of the cracked red eye orbs from firelink shrine.

Totally possible to do and be horrible at pvp. I myself did this on a character ao I could actually invade people at an appropriate level and skill at pvp (which at the time was very bad.) I lost to many a player that proved my point. But, it did help me get better at pvp. I know I "donated" humanity to many players on that low level spree of invading.

He probably glitched to get his gear. A good pvper isn't gonna hang around the Burg on an SL6 doing invasions. His goal is to invade new players or experienced players on new toons and roll them with his lightning weapon backstab. There are a 1000 more idiots just like him in the Burg and I'm glad to see one of them meet a flaming demise.

Side note, my SL20 Gravelord is disgusted with you and your great combustion lol. I've been OHKO'd by that *** spell so much in the Burg its depressing.

I don't consider myself an incredibly skilled player but made my last character a darkwraith at SL11. It's tough, but really do-able if you can PVE well.

Federally: I feel your pain, but she is Swamp Witch Barbie. Pyro-mage of doom, bringing death, good taste, and fine style where ever she roams. 8)

It's become apparent to me that I lack empathy towards any invader I kill when playing any of the souls games. They are there ultimately to take your souls/humanity in the end regardless of their "honor" stand point or skill level.

It's good you don't feel so bad anymore.

Mm. Yes. Feel numb to the pain. Join the dark side! Mwuahahahahahahhahaha!

Haahhaha! I'm jk. I don't feel bad against any invaders anyway. They're invading. They don't lose anything when they lose. Hosts potentially lose everything. As I have in the past. Though, I don't feel bad because I also don't care if I lose anymore. Idk. I just kinda don't care what outcome happens when PvPing haha!

Random invaders I'll kill however I have to. I love random invaders more than duelling because you don't know what to expect and it's just a whole different world from just playing in PvP hotspots. It's a shame more people don't do that instead of just PvPing in the kiln, forest or burg :|

I personally don't care about loosing anymore after I platinum the game. I 9/10 times don't need my souls unless I am using my toon im pushing to a higher level. And I dupe when I need more humanities or any other item. So even if I loose as a human form I actually don't loose anything personally.

Feel bad for an invader? Never. Feel bad for people I invade? Never.

In the world of chaos and despair, the best thing to understand is that people die, and as a creature in the middle of it all, taking the best action of survival is the first priority. Then, living.

It only sucks if you're trying to get your second fire tempest without killing Qualana, and you need to kill O&S in NG+, and you've put a rule on yourself not to use a shield. And then you're internet goes out, and you can only summon Solaire to help, then you eventually run out of humanity. Then when you finally get on the internet, you kill solaire for his 2 humanity, then both of those get wasted because of invaders.
    *sigh* back to farming.
Hahahaha!.. yeah. I should have just turned off my ps3. Would have been better to be a bit cheap than to rage as hard as I did.

I have to say I do care. I don't like losing to NPC or invaders. Winning is so much more fun. But that being said, I just don't take it personally. When a damnable torch wielding hollow kills Barbie on her way to the depths bonfire, I'm not happy.... but I don't hold a personal grudge against the hollow. No point. Same with an invader. No point.
