Is painted world no longer a place for chivalry?

I was just messing around for some souvenirs of reprisal with my sl 55 dex/faith build and my new shiny painted guardian sword +15. Little did I know, this is the new place for BKGA Full Havels + DWGR bs fishers who don't bow. I ran into at least 4 different guys like this. Play dirty all you want, I'm the one invading after all, but seriously can't you think of something a little more original and cooler looking? How is the game even fun like that. The painted world used to be a great place for PvP. Maybe I should just get closer to 120 and the competition will be a bit more classier. Rant over...

Ask the lifehunters, I avoid the place because I like exploring lordran. That said, it seems like there has been a jump in gank activity lately.

Sadly, I think anywhere in the game that is acknowledged as a PvP area will have douchebags and gankers, it's just something you have to deal with while people look for easy wins and soul farms.

as you get closer to sl 120 you will find more legit pvp'ers, the painted world has been the place where ive seen the more original builds in the game, i got my *** kicked by an archer with no poise and composite bow(he was wearing the dwgr and i was using a slow weapon) and he was using the effigy shield which is my favourite shield in the game but like all places it's turning into poop because of gankers or boring players like the one you mentioned.

umm i just invaded there with a lvl 54 and everyone i met bowed... and gave me indictments as a compliment in one case, for one guy progressing through the level i ran through and opend all the doors for him then while he was busy else where i dueled his phantom, then him when he showed up.

Not just Painted World, every area of the game has these kind of players. At SL 120 you'll get more honorable players who will bow at the bonfire and at the arena.

I'm getting close to 120 and had some great battles at the kiln last night...maybe 1 or 2 invasions were gankers...

An indictment is a compliment? I usually indict the players I dislike and don't indict the reasonable folks. Am I doing this backwards?

when i invade at PW i get half of the players running to the bonfire area to duel with me, 1/4 has a phantom with them and tries to gank me and the last ones try to hide/summon a phantom/runs to the boss fog.
those who duel are mostly honorable. and i see a lot of different armour combos, DWGR everywhere but still. i saw one who made a smough cosplay with med roll, i wanted him to heal so we could fight longer but he didn’t

EDIT: but when i put down my rss to be summoned bu someone of the lifehunters for various reasons i almost always get summoned to a gank instead.

I actually got RSS summoned today. Fighting a dude and accidently BS so I run away so he can heal. As I do a SoV invades and start attacking me. I manage to kill the SoV but then the host gets me. I dont know if he was a real SoV or a phantom summoned wrong though. Overall though Ive found a lot od DWs will BS. Only about 1/4 are honourable.

If you can't beat them, then beat them with a big stick, I've been DM invading the Forrest lately honing me pvp skills, very satisfying beating the host and his phantom, cleanse the Forrest I say.

many invaders use the book of the guilty like a leaderboard with higher ranks/more indictments meaning that they're "better" and the guy in question sent me a note saying he hoped i reached the top 20... i guess being an honorable duellist IS surprising in PW....

Hmm so I should reverse my thinking. Indictments for the nice guys and not for the **** heads, okay!

only some invaders see indictments as ranking points though so maybe send a message to that effect...

Not as bad as what happened to me in the tomb of the giants today. I got invaded by someone with almost the exact same build as me.(spear and great axe) We both bowed and buffed. I ended up winning the fight by going on full offensive and I sent him a message saying "Nice Fight!"

He responds with F*** YOU!!

Everyone has the right to play however they want, wether you find it "boring" or not. You'd all probably have more fun if you stopped judging others preferd playstiles and focused on the fight itself.

I've been invading a lot in PW, and yes, in my experience, there are lots of gankers/soul farmers. One scenario that happens a lot is players standing close to you on the bridge with the spawnpoint when you spawn, just spamming attacks/pyromancy/whatever at you. I'm playing a midpoise, low vit build toon so they kill me pretty quickly. But it isn't that big a deal. Whenever I've gotten ganked, I go to another part of the level (the room before the first fog door) and hopefully I invade the ganker. Then I can sneak up on them or at the very least fight them from a little less disadvantageous position.

But there are a lot of honorable/fun players as well, so it kind of balances out. As for levels, I started invading at SL70 or something, and am now at SL96(ish) and the ganker-ratio has been pretty much constant, probably around 30% or so. If by gankers we're talking two summons, heavy armor, masks, and all that.

On indictments: I'm pretty sure griefers and the like get off on seeing themselves high on the list in the book of the guilty. I'm pretty sure they view it as a kind of reward. Something to consider.
