Velka's Rapier
I've had pretty good success with this weapon, but it appears to be overlooked. It's been pretty good to me; anyone else have luck with this sword?

Re: Velka's Rapier
Umm ya I do for sure with 60 INT it hits 460 ish for me and for an unbuffed rapier its the best of them. The criticals from rapiers are insane for unbuffed weapons it hits harder than almost anything else.
Ill never understand why rapiers get 100 crit but hit waaaaaay harder than the stats indicate. For instance my ENC claymore will BS for 900 but has a dmg of 590 and velka will do 1100 and has 460 dmg same 100 crit lol?????
It will out do my ENC bandits knife even on my 225 toon I pretty much always have it has a back up to finish a fight with a quick poke or for when I get parrys!

It is lovely, isn't it?
Good to see I'm not the only one who's enjoying this weapon. Maybe I just haven't run across many users of it.

Re: Velka's Rapier
Oh you did sir you did I was busy trying to figure out the weird off hand rapier parry move and eating your R2's lol!
Ya man I don't see a lot of people using it or rapiers in general very often!
Ill tell ya what after some testing with the FC guys if more people used the leo ring they would LOVE rapiers. Seriously guys that ring is CRAZY I ate a 1000 dmg from a unbuffed BSS thrust. If you had a buffed crystal rapier and the leo ring you would do OHKO!!!

Re: Velka's Rapier
I'm all about rapiers lately, and having just made a mage i'm using velkas as my primary wpn. I like it alot, second only to my ricards, the reach is sligghtly better than ricards, and speed much faster than estoc.

It's the best rapier in the game, in my opinion. Flashy moveset is dope.

Re: Velka's Rapier
I actually use one on my Velka the Pardoner cosplay build.
It's very efficient IMHO, and it does some insane backstab damage.

Re: Velka's Rapier
When an enemy is in an animation (jumping, guard break, etc), attacks do 20% more damage. That's why ripostes are more powerful than backstabs. The Leo ring stacks damage from a thrust damage for like 64% or something (someone did extensive testing, might've been Rynn). However, it only applies to physical thrust damage, though the Moonlight Butterfly Horn has some weird properties to it, so I'm not sure what's up with that.

Re: Velka's Rapier
Cool. Very informative. Two more things. Is it all attacks with thrusting weapons, or just thrusting attacks (ie. all attack with the BSS, or just the R2)? and does than mean you'll still get a little extra riposte damage?

Re: Velka's Rapier
Any thrusting attack (Claymore 1HR2 counts), and no, this is only for non riposte attacks.

Re: Velka's Rapier
No it will only stack the thrust attack of the BSS only the thrusts or thrusting weapons/spears are boosted but its an insane boost. And you will see no extra boost on the rpstl's!!

Re: Velka's Rapier
Then how did you get 1000 dmg out of an unbuffed BSS, if those previous numbers are correct?

Re: Velka's Rapier
I use Velka's Rapier as well, it's a really good weapon at high Int like 40+. Even a R1 poke to most players in PvP with their shield down can result in almost 200 HP and obviously the riposte/bs is very high. The Critical for the Velka's is 110, not 100 if I'm not mistaken and hence why it does more damage for riposte/bs. Heh against the bad guys near the Burg blacksmith with 50 Int a riposte will do 1200+ damage and with the Hornet ring 1700+.

Re: Velka's Rapier
No the velka's crit is def 100 the only rapiers with over 100 are reg rapier 110 and mail breaker 120. The hardest hitting crit rapier will be a crystal upgraded then buffed with DMB/SLB/CMW reg rapier.
The BSS with elemental thrust will do 450 dmg if you add 65% your up to a 1000 dmg the leo ring with a buffed rapier is just crazy man!!!!

Re: Velka's Rapier
Neither do I... the Moonlight Butterfly horn is really weird, wish I could explain it.Quarik wrote:When an enemy is in an animation (jumping, guard break, etc), attacks do 20% more damage. Balder Side Sword, when the leo ring goes off, does 95% of the damage it's backstab would have done. This makes going for backstabs pretty much pointless.

Re: Velka's Rapier
It acts weird. I clocked it and the moo0nlight greatsword at only a 90 point damage difference, and the moonlight greatsword has 160 more AR. The moonlight horn also ignored magic barrier and great magic barrier, and it just doesn't synch up with it's expected damage rate.WhatDoesThePendantDo? wrote:How is the Butterfly Horn different?

World may never know. I think it's probably a bug or coding flaw.WhatDoesThePendantDo? wrote:Rynn wrote:[color:21ad=#000000]It acts weird.
