suggestions for a new weapon?

So, I absolutelt love the MSGS. It has good speed and hits decently hard as well. I have fiddled with other weapons that are str based, but most are to slow for my liking. Any suggestions for a solid str based weapon that isnt slow but still hits decently would be awesome.

Once you get used to the movesets, the halberds in the game are solid. I based an entire build around the regular scythe and im loving it. I would reccomend the Scythe but it's more of a dex or 40/40 build weapon.

i was about to suggest the DGM, it is amazing. but then i read that you don’t want slow weapons.
large club? it isn’t really that slow.

if you like the msgs i would always consider that as a choice cause its great. other options could be the great club(not too high stat req but great scaling) it causes poison infliction and the rolling r1 is the same as the other great hammers(awesome).


i also like pole arms like knight mentioned. Looks like we have similar taste knight, i have the regular scythe on my pyro build with 14str and 45dex, it is amazing and underrated.

Totally, the moveset on it (switching from one handed to two handed constantly) is so random it always throws people off guard!!

UMM what else do you need besides the MSGS best GS in the game by far

The large club like others said is awesome also its poison is so strong it will poison even if they block.

On my 120 str build I only use MSGS and GC or LG...I would use the DGM as its AWESOME but I was so excited to get the build done I killed shiva before I bought it

why don’t you farm for the DGM? it only takes a few runs in the demon ruins.

you still dont have a DGM dark? just farm it, its really easy to do or ill give you one next time i see you. back on topic, i specially love the DGM(i use crystal DGM'S) the rolling attack is awesome and that things can stunlock most people with one attack but you have to pick your time to attack since its easy to punish with a counter or bs. i think the msgs is the best gs in the game, specially whe buffed, the glgs could a a better choice if you have 18 0r 20 dex but you cant bufffed it so you can buff the msgs and once the buff runs out switch to the glgs, that thing packs a punch and has better reach than the msgs but the r2 attacks suck so just use the normal attacks.

I've been working on a Str build and I agree that the MSGS is definitely the most user friendly greatsword: it has great scaling, it's quick, and can stunlock-two handed. But I think when it comes to Str weapons, it's not solely about speed. What you lose in speed, you make up for in stunlock. So the Great Axe or Golem Axe or Large Club may be slower but if you connect and stunlock you have enough time to continue smashing. MSGS is definitely the fastest strength weapon but can't stunlock as easily one handed. It has been difficult retraining my timing to Str based weapons.

I love the MSGS. I actually stunlock often with it (twohanded mind you). Looks like I wont be changing weapons anytime soon then, atleast with that build. I will give the glgs a try more though. I actually don't buff my msgs that often because I rarely need it. With 40 str, it hits pretty hard at +15 and no buffs. Thanks for all the input. I was loving it and now know that I don't need to change. Now, if I could find a solid user covenant that would accept my setup as is, I would be in heaven.

Damn Rant maybe I had to low of item discovery or just the worst luck in the game but I must have killed over 200 capra demons and no DGM ill try with the item disc ring on tho or will gladly accept the gift some time lol!

On topic the DGM poke is crazy strong and fast its like a Zwei poke on steroids. You just have to get used to the timing but the stunlock on it is also epic. Crystal DGM then buffed with DMB now thats just mean lol!

yeah, that thing hits hard, i love my leeroy build but i never buff in FC, i wnat the fight to last longer but even with no buff and 1h it does a little less than 600 per hit, maybe more, depends on the armor the other guy is wearing.

Ya after all the effort for the host to summon people in FC it sucks to have someone buff DMB or SLB and have a 30 sec fight.

Charcoal buff only for me for duels with friends unless someone else buffs then the DMB comes out

if i had a str build like you are suggesting. i would use the dgm and upgrade it to +15 as soon as possible. add a buff to that bad boy and you got yourself the most dangerous weapon in the game for PvE and PvP (if you got the moveset and timing down).

I remember getting my *** handed to me more than a few times by Rant using one in FC a few months ago haha.

i love using rotten resin, i love the way it looks.

i mostly use fire resin, only because it makes my weapon look badass and not because it is effective

I suggest the Demon's Greataxe. If you get the first hit you can stunlock them to death. It has 'S' scaling in Str. It is faster than the hammer and maybe the DGM, although difficult to hit because of its vertical attack. The sweeping attack is difficult to connect too but it's awesome.
