One of the weapons I haven't tried in all my DkS career, the Giant's Halberd. I haven't even tried a halberd at all..what do you guys recommend? I'm a bit obsessed with unique weapons.

it's pretty weak, even with a 40/40 build and it has split damge with lightning but try it a little and see what you think before you go for the full build.

Giant's Halberd is a powerful weapon and, rightfully so for its weight. Why is it a powerful weapon? First of all, is the actual r1 attack shared among it, the Gargberd and the Scythe. The initial hit is a forward attack with sizeable range, which makes it good for punishing whiffs. The second hit if you don't block cancel is a sweep. You can trick people who think that you'll block cancel the first strike and you (hilariously) punish their punish attempt. You can play a good mix up game with it. Secondly, is the sweeping roll attack, which unlike the r1 should always be block cancelled. You can get a few surprise hits off this and, you'll be able to judge when to use the effectively when you learn to use the Halberd more. The third reason why this is powerful weapon is the jump attack which is another large, sweeping strike. If you have used the Scythe jump attack before, then you know how to use this.

Notice all the reasons why this is a powerful weapon are shared amongst all Halberds. Generally speaking, the Giants Halberd is weaker than the Gargberd. The r2 poke is nothing special, stagger makes it pretty silly to use. I guess you could use the Leo Ring with it but, meh.

i much prefer the other pole arms/halberds but its a decent weapon with the right stats. i personally would go with the gargoyal or scythe but it depends on the build. i ignored pole arms for a while cause when i tested them i just hit r1 once and was like, meh. but the follow up r1 is what makes them great.

I'd imagine the r2 works with the leo ring.

Roan hit all the main points. If you wanna still go for the build I'd suggest backing yourself with a lil pyromancy. Just a great fireball or fire orb, nothing to serious
