Yes, I know there are a lot of threads like this. But anyway, I finally got my first parry! But I could not riposte! Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

I'm still very happy! After months playing, weeks trying, at the forest, I parried a lightning katana running attack from a douche with giants armor and MoM at the forest and two more phantoms around me in the forest (oh BTW, now I see why you forest guys suffer so much)

Now the question. Why the hell I could not riposte?! I was using the Iron Round shield and I had enough stamina!

Whatever, I'll keep training and maybe one day, I'll get as good as you guys big grin

Good job! After you parried, did you move away from the guy? Because that could be why you couldn't get the riposte. Or, you might have been to far to the side of him. But anyways, good job!

I was blocking, then he runned attacked so I parried a bit earlier, and it did the parry animation, he could not move, I think I waited too long to press R1 so I attacked normally instead of the riposte.

I've had that happen. Probably one of the causes already mentioned. Congrats. I've only had a few in pvp so you're right behind me

Last time someone failed a riposte on me, I let him BS me since the parry had been so perfect.

Wish that happened :/ after my parry, the ganker stopped spamming R1 and tried to run away, probably scared as hell, now I can see the power of that thing!

I had a very similar thread to this one. Maybe, it'll be able to help you, mano.

    You're right, completely. silly

Well done, even though parrying online is more working out lag and guessing than reactions and skillful timing, as a parry should be lol

Were you at a different height? Because in PvE I have a lot of parries but because 'm higher than the enemy it wont let me riposte.

Not that I remember. I was back to a tree so that no phantom could BS me, but I don't think that would change anything.

You reminded me of something. I noticed that in order to practice online parrying, you must unlearn how to parry in PVE. The timing is so diferent that you don't even know if you're parrying or not. Is basicly based on lag and luck.

Yeah you have to parry before you see the attack.

It's not lag and luck... it's intuition!

Or educated guess, whichever you prefer.

As for the missed riposte, it could also be due to the fact that you parried his running attack. The game will sometimes interpret a player in motion as staying in motion, so when you parry a katana's very fast running-R1, sometimes their momentum will push them through you while they're ready to be riposted. So you would have had to re-position yourself properly to land the riposte.

Anyways, keep practicing, you'll get the riposte!

Federally- Find a PSN buddy and practice with fists, then base weapons, then duels with base weapons, then fully upgraded weps. That's how I learned, and it works great.
