I tried to join the gravelords yesterday, got the sword and starting miracle but nothing more. Would joining then leaving the covenant through oswald fix it?

That should work. You might have to quit and rejoin more than once if you need to lose more than one level.

I think you may have done the unthinkable.... It carries over cov ranks and rewards so if you had joined the Gravelord in the other game you would not get the joining benefits in your new one.
