^this
He was expecting to fight a guy who just started the game to get easy kill, he is the noob.
He knows that without a phantom he can't kill anyone in the same level as him

Re: topical rant about "noob"
Imo the term noob has become a sapposed derogatory term. But it makes me laugh because most people do not even know how to use it in the correct context. It was originally not derogatory, just a way to place people in the category of being new to whatever game you were playing. I just take it simply as somebody calling me a peanut butter and banana sandwich. The insult is about the same degree.

Re: topical rant about "noob"
noob is such a common insult that I do not get bothered by it anymore. They use the word to insult somebody who uses a tactic they claim is 'cheap' so my big question is if the person is a noob and you are not then how come you weren't able to kill the noob despite his obvious advantage.
If the troll is stacked then do your best to make him work for his win. I fought a troll in the depth he killed me but I made him work for that win he was only one hit from death when he killed me. (I was using the drake sword with pyromancer armor +3 and a pyromancy flame +2. He had full havels and a BKGA)

^This. That's why I make the distinction between the two (I bet no one noticed huh? )ZeppelinMetal wrote:Imo the term noob has become a sapposed derogatory term. - Newb = Newbie. The original meaning of the term. This is someone who's new at the game, obviously not very talented at it yet because he's learning the ropes. People should be lenient with newbs, because we all start as one.
- Noob = someone who is unable to evolve past the un-skilled stage. Usually because they cling onto crutches for dear life. "Fully-upgraded BKGA Full-Giants MoM", invading in a newb-populated area? The definition of a noob.
But of course some don't know either definition, so they'll misuse the word. Or they know it and they try to use it in an attempt to annoy you. But for that guy to call you a noob, in that scenario, is just...

Re: topical rant about "noob"
yea i can agree with that blaine thats basically the same way i think about it. Most "newbs" openly admit to being new and **** at the game. While the other category is when the derogatory insults come into play and its an argument of how good you have to be to leave the title behind.

Re: topical rant about "noob"
It is supposed to be someone new to a game that doesn't really understand the concepts and strategy well yet.

Re: topical rant about "noob"
The vast majority of the internet, people here included, complain about anything they can't or don't like dealing with. Many feel that whatever style they prefer should be the best style, but would stop using it if it became popular so they can feel special. Noob is a generic, meaningless insult thrown at anyone to whom the user feels superior.

Re: topical rant about "noob"
Unless they Gank, Turtle, or BS constantly, I don't think being called a nood is justifiable. I'll admit, I sometimes turtle or BS when I just want to finish the level but I'm never an ******* about it when I win.

Re: topical rant about "noob"
I don't use noob as much as other, if not at all. It is an irritating and childish sounding word to hear and see, and I just want to smack them on the neck, and then the cheek. I see it the same as how people now say 'OMG', or 'LOL', or other Internet terms that are SUPPOSE to simplify writing... Which now they see it cool to use it in normal speech. The ideals of it irritate me.
If I am irritated at someone, I yell, patronize, insult, hurt, taunt, and aggronize my victim. Saying 'noob' is not one of them. My companion hears me talk on skype, and she can clarify that many of these 'noob' Darkwraiths out there have mercy only of them not hearing my rage, spite, and revelling destructive nature. At one point, when a Darkwraith was agonizing us over and over, I told whiskey to stop going to the boss, and I dried fingered... Again, again, and again. He stopped invading after I beat the crap out of him the fourth time. Jackass
