Well compared to a typical community this one is a lot more friendly towards one another. So when compared to having a few threads locked here, and fifty threads locked on a big gaming forum, it can be a bit shocking around here. We just aren't as used to it.

I don't think that it's necessary. I believe that we, as a community, have reached a point where we are mostly desensitized to this issue, and have learned a lot about accepting differing viewpoints.
So I don't think this should be a problem. As awful as this entire episode was, it was also edifying so it was not all bad.
