    Took a day off

Post by SlakeMoth on Sun May 13, 2012 3:38 am

Well I tried, I really did. Didn't fire up Dark Souls yesterday. Had a session with Skyrim instead.

Result: I'll be back on Dark Souls today!

Honestly, I lost all interest in Skyrim after about 30 hours. Same thing with Oblivion. The last GOOD TES game was Morrowind IMO

I'm actually surprised how much I think about DS when I'm out of town. I usually have like 3 builds completely planned out by the time I make it home. lol Can't get enough.

I myself am taking a break from my latest dex build

Just got Minecraft on the 360, and I must say, it's a lot of fun, nothing like a bit of Jolly Cooperation in that game either if I do say so myself.

    ...still no diamonds though -_-

The longest I have took a break from DkS was for a fortnight when I played the Witcher II.

DkS is one of those games that just infects you completely.

I think I got as far as turning myself into a

Just did not like the combat,it felt dull and false.
    DkS as spoiled me happy

Exactly. I have shown people a couple boss videos, and they always comment that the combat in DkS looks really basic. Then I explain how stats/armor/weapon can completely change your gameplay, and show it in person.

Yet more proof that Dark souls is addictive like drugs.

So true friend although I think to truly appreciate DkS combat you have to play the game.

When you are swinging that BkGA or are Riposte & parrying it all feels sound and solid.

I thought Skyrims combat had no feel to it,but hay different strokes for different fokes I guess.

Last night I finished The Witcher 2 and it wasn't that bad but every time I was fighting somebody I was cursing the stupid fighting scheme and controls the game uses.
I was never able to actually get used to it and always kept thinking about how good the game could be if its controls were just a little more similar to Dark Souls.

I also had a little learning curve with the combat controls with the Witcher.

Giving its due though I put up with them due to the compeling story, and once you get a feel for how the combat mechanics work it is not that bad.

This being said if the controls were like DkS then the Witcher would have been even more fantastic.

That's exactly my point. It the same with Skyrim, after dozens of sidequests I lost track of my main quest and story behind the events, thus ending in my lack of interest to finish the game. I believe that I already spent more than 30 hours and got kind of bored with it.
With DkS... I keep playing and trying new stuff... More than 400 hrs and still counting.

I was quite interested in The Witcher but the main man is so ugly in my opinion it put me off. As for Skyrim, I've started playing it again and found the Dwemer city Markath which I think is really cool, so I will carry on with it. The biggest problem with Skyrim though is the way you only have to break wind and someone gives you a new quest. I've got so many on the go I've lost count. Yeah, I know I could refuse them but I'm too curious to do that. I'm not really interested in the main quest line aka Stormcloaks v. Imperials, I just like exploring and finding new stuff.

In spite of the above, I was back on Dark Souls last night and beat Orney & Smough for the third time thanks to Mithras13 and good old Solaire. It's amazing how success in the game makes you hungry for more punishment but that's the nature of the beast I guess.
