    Blaine's Builds! Empty Blaine's Builds!

    Post by BLA1NE Sat May 12, 2012 2:07 pm

Well... there's no point keeping them secret! I guess now is as good a time as any to share my builds with all of you. Just want to get a few things out of the way first: I dislike the DWGR, am not fond of pyro in melee duels, laugh at masks, etc. So these builds are definitely handicapped by self-imposed rules. But if you can look past that, they're great builds and a lot of fun to play with!

    The Jackal (Female) - SL120

    http://tinyurl.com/79jaun4

This is my all-purpose Dex build. Has 40 Dex to get the best scaling, and 28 Str to be able to wield the largest of the Dex weapons; the Murakumo. I swap armors around to make weight when I want to switch weapons, so I never have to change my rings, and always have >54 poise. The current loadout it's got now is my most common one, but it's got a complete Dex arsenal of:

    Bandit's Knife +15
    Balder Side Sword +15
    Silver Knight Straight Sword +5
    Flamberge +14
    Shotel +14
    Falchion +14
    Painting Guardian Sword +15
    Iaito +15
    Chaos Blade +5
    Murakumo +15
    Estoc +14
    Claws +14
    Winged Spear +14
    Partizan +14
    Pike +14
    Silver Knight Spear +5
    Great Scythe +15
    Lifehunt Scythe +5
    Notched Whip +15
    Composite Bow +14
    Black Bow of Pharis +14
    Dragonslayer Greatbow +5

    The Juggernaut (Male) - SL120

    http://tinyurl.com/7fyq4o9

This is my Str build. A bit of a funny one, this one... I just felt like giving him fast roll while wearing full Black Iron and a Great Club--because I can! But as I was making it, plans changed a little, I ditched the full BI set because it wasn't weight-efficient, switched the stats around a bit, and ended-up with what it is now (note: the Steel armor is not weight efficient either! But I like the way it looks). Most of the time it alternates between wielding the Great Club and the Greatsword, but it's whole arsenal includes:

    Manserpent Greatsword
    Greatsword
    Demon Great Machete
    Butcher Knife
    Golem Axe
    Demon's Greataxe
    (2H)
    Greataxe
    Reinforced Club
    Pickaxe
    Demon's Great Hammer
    (2H)
    Great Club
    Dragon Tooth
    (2H)
    Smough's Hammer
    (2H)
    Dragon Bone Fist

    The Genius (Unisex) - SL120

    http://tinyurl.com/74xccr8

My pure caster! I like to mix pyro spells in with sorceries because of the nature of each; sorceries are very precise, whereas pyro has AoE. Mix them up and you can really mix up your opponent, and that's when they make mistakes. The spells I have on now are the ones I use most of the time, sometimes I mix them up more. This build actually has enough casts on hand to take on multiple foes at once, or back to back, without needing to recharge. The Rapier is purely a last resort in case I run out of casts... even though I've fought as many as 5 duels in a row without needing to recharge! As for the armor, it's purely aesthetic. You could probably make something more effective with the weight, but it wouldn't be nearly as sexy! (Note: it fast-rolls, not med-roll.)

I've got other SL120s in my roster right now, but they've fallen out of my favor. Builds like Dex/ Fth buffing builds, and the like. These 3 builds I posted are currently my favorite for dueling. Then... there's this guy:

    The Sandman (Male) - SL80

    http://tinyurl.com/6mzk73a

He's what nightmares are made of! A sleeper--doesn't look like much at first glance, but underestimate him and he'll put you to sleep. His main and offhand weapons are arguably the two most underrated weapons in the game, and his armor looks so light you wouldn't believe he can tank a hit from a greatsword--but he can, and he's got plenty of health to spare for it, too. Anyone who goes toe-to-toe with this build loses. This is my invasion build, and it allows me to really play with the hosts. I never attack unless attacked first anymore, and this build easily allows me to makeup for the disadvantage of letting the host attack me first. That is... if I'm not busy parrying them as a chameleon! This is also a great build for piercing swords and the Balder Side Sword, but you'll have to swap armor around to make weight.

    NEW BUILD! - AotA:

    The Nightmare (Unisex) - SL99

    http://tinyurl.com/9cgwzf7

In the honor of the DLC, my latest (and probably final) build uses a combination of Chester's and Artorias's new armors, as well as Ciaran's weapons. Sorry, no Gough love... but you can use his talking stones to complete the new cast! The 16 Str is for the Chaos Blade, if you feel like switching things up a bit. The rest is self-explanatory!

The main reason to be able to 1h is so I can parry with my offhand.

Uparkaam wrote:Holy hell! 75 endurance? :affraid:
lol I thought about it a bit and come to the conclusion that it's really my Great Club build, as opposed to my Str build. If I really want to, I'll make a Str build, with enough strength to wield even Smough's hammer 1-handed, less End, and full med-roll. This build can currently wield Smough's hammer 2-handed, but that puts it at med roll anyways with plenty of weight to spare. Might as well have less weight to spare and be able to 1-hand the thing!

Yeah, for some reason the forums refused to let me register as Blaine. So I had to resort to some [not so] creative spelling!

Yeah? Maybe I'll consider making it my PSN if we have to make a new one for PS4. I liked Blaine because it's a statement: no numbers, only the first letter is capitalized; I'm the original PSN Blaine! A perk of getting my PS3 November 19, 2006! winking

Edit: I've had countless random friends requests from people searching for another Blaine, too, so I guess it's a popular id. (Dante was already taken, btw--was my first choice. silly In hindsight, I'm glad I didn't get it, because *** Crapcom and *** what they're doing to DMC.)

youre great club build is very similar to my DGH build, i went with rofp and wolf ring since i wanted light roll and light armor cause that thing is freaking heavy.

Yeah, the DGH is damn heavy. Great Club is ridiculously light for what you get! My build can wield the DGH, and has one ready at +14, but I don't think it will often. I might make another build if I find I really like the heavier Str weapons.

I like how the great club weights 10 less than the DGH but still deals more damage. FROM should've made the DGH more powerful than it is now.

yeah, i think all the demon weapons should have an S in str, theres only three of them anyway. i use it becuse it looks awesome and the damage difference is not that much.

And the S scaling should be much better. With 50 STR the DGA deals only 11 more damage than the great club. And the DGA has a freaking S scaling.
