Min/Max or GTFO.

So I made a new 40str/40dex build for the first time because I thought it'd be cool to have all that weapon variety in one build for once. I have 40 endurance and 10 att, which leaves me (I think) with 38 vitality. So at around level 80 I go to the Burg to PvP my way to 120, and after several hours what I've noticed is that EVERYONE min/maxes. Everyone. Elemental weapons still do decent damage, and I'm having trouble keeping up with these dudes who can stack all the gear they want and have tons of vitality on top of it. I fought a few dudes when I was at lvl108 who had over 1800hp, and because I put all those points in dex and srength, I'm getting pooped on constantly.

Long story short... eff that. I'm min/maxing in the Burg from now on. I don't care how boring/generic/unimaginative it is.

Excuse me. It's actually 45 DEX for pyro and 40 strength....

/I dont think you should, my favourite build is my velka, not much health and isnt overly powerfull but is one of my most fun and when i get a win with her i know i earnt it, thats what i love about dark souls all my builds are challenging ones, 8/10 peopel allways use the same sorta set up, you stick with dex 40/40 and every victory will taste so much sweeter

Make a versatile build. I think I'm going to make a faith build, but only buff VS. min/maxers.

I got a build for those asshats demon hammer 50 str, dmb and twop. It soothes the soul LOL

i min max my actual spec, but not armor.

All my toons have less than 1400 HP. I still have 99 scales and 99 humanity from duels at burg, kiln and demons ruins. Sorry but Min/Max is no excuse

I see a majority of people in the Burg wearing the Mask of the Mother... But beyond unoriginal gear, I usually have good fights there. My build is also an all-rounder, doesn't use DWGR or any masks, or even pyro, but I have a lot of success with it there.

There have been some rare cases where I've faced someone with a DMB-ed weapon who felt he needed to stack PW on top of that... But these people I sent a message to. Basically: you can play however you want, but I'd appreciate it if you either give me a good fight or crystal out. 2-3-shotting me with a katana is not a good fight.

I don't really know what to say... Stick with it! We all have rough nights here and there.

yea elemental katana+giants+mof+as much vit as you can stack. thats the norm. I was fooling around with my lvl20 mage which imo is not at all op or cheap idk some people might think so for lvl 20. http://tinyurl.com/74h92kb i have fun cause it is possible to compete with this build and i dont feel cheap. but more then once one of the above mentioned builds would not even bow and then proceed to get 1-2 shots in with a +5 lightning uchi and kill me. of course followed. *** em they dont have the balls to take on a challenge.

whats the fun in min/maxxing this game? i do it all the time in other games. i will beat you up with my fist using matthew pattel build over just backstabbing you with my +5 chaos weapons. why? because its more fun to pummel you to the ground with my fists anyway.

Lol Damage you should try PvP in the Burg at level 25. I'm fighting guys with all the same gear as the much higher SLs you're fighting. It's really kind of ridiculous. But instead of going to the dark side I just have my Gravelord sword in my secondary slot. Any legit duelers fight me with my heater shield and hand axe +5 every idiot fishing for backstabs or wearing really ridiculous gear gets killed by 3 2H swings of the Gravelord sword.

Watch out for the GLS, parrying those weapons 2h when they're locked is absurdly easy.

I keep wanting to make a min/max character but the masks are preventing me from doing it. I have tried to like them... just can't. They look too silly. So, I just try to build the best character I can without crappy looking armor.

Besides, some of the better looking armor is pretty good.All +5 Black Iron Armor is awesome looking and puts a serious dent even on a Hornet's Ring backstab, and what could look better than the Big Hat and Sage Robe? Great Magic and Lightning resists there.

I don't min/max, and I almost never lose. Hell, I even wear disadvantageous armor sometimes.
But, then again, I only pvp at SL120 so I don't really know anything below that.

there is nothing wrong with min/maxing, stop complaining. there is nothing wrong with wanting to use the best gear you can. there is nothing "cheap" about wearing giants. Complain about people spamming WOG and TWOP. not wearing the same gear.



in a way everyone wearing the same gear makes it come down to skill when they fight, and no gear advantage. we choose to intentionaly gimp our self for the purpose of aesthetics.

Yeah gear doesn't bother me so much as tactics, at least at 120 anyways. Just the guys using the typical min/max gear use the same annoying suck the fun out of DkS tactics. So I encourage people who don't fight like that to not wear the stuff because you just get treated different wear a MoM.

But in the lower SLs its ridiculous and really just sucks. Most of them BB'd to get it and it makes a huge difference at SL20 or whatever.

i actually lost to a Min/Maxer today but it was a good duel. invaded the guy and got ganked 3v1. Invaded agian, got ganked agian. i messaged him asking for a 1v1 and saying surely he doesnt need 3v1 to win. he accepted the 1v1 fight. invade him a 3rd time we both bow start fight, i land 2 parries and he still doesn't die lol, but then i lose. He did backstab me but he was not BS fishing and landed a good BS when i got sloppy with a R2 attack just for fun.

I wasn't trying to suggest i'd be min/maxing in all PvP spots, or that min/maxing is OP. Yeah, you can still get wins if you dont, and yeah it's still fair if they do. I'm just going to take my 40/40 build to the Kiln and make another strictly for Burg PvP and see how it works out. And I'm still going to wear the same armor setup I always do. I refuse to wear Giant's gear and masks.

If its in the game its fair. Unfair implies you do not have the ability to do it yourself, and there hasint been a single item in this game that takes a tremendous amount of effort aside fron like dragon torso. There's sportsmanship but if both if you dont know eachother, you're only proving to yourself by taking more of a holistic approach at pvp which is fine but that doesn't give anyone the right to be holier than thou because they don't choose to play by your "rules"

And this is dark souls, a soul crushing remorseless game.. most people don't understand what's considered unsavory, a lot of people do not compromise. And I don't think there is a problem with that...outside of summoning phantoms to be jerks..thats over the line for me..but to each their own

I never once suggested min/maxing was unfair...
