yup it does, cause its the F*** you move of this game, force does it too... one pacifist build i saw used force and a dark hand and a bow.... they went around switching arrows all the time to make it look like they were scratching their butt then they'd put on the dark hand and throw dung pies with the occasional lewd thrust via force...

Always min/max in all my games, atleast at one point. When thats done one starts to look for diversity, and I am fairly sure thats true for everyone here even the ones proclaiming otherwise.

And there is nothing wrong with min/maxing, heck if you didnt min/max in most online MMORPGs youd be considered the uber noob (atleast in any high level grouping).

And btw, Giant set looks cool!

Obviously aesthetics are a matter of opinion. I like the Giant's in pieces, but not together. I have a build that uses it's legs paired with the SK armor and I like it. Also Used to use the helmet paired with Elite Knight armor, but then I swapped it out for the Golum's helm. I find the Giant's chest piece to be a little too big and blocky for my tastes, but whatever floats your boat....pal

I use giant's armor plus Havel's shield but I fat roll and the only reason I have giant's and havel's shield is so that when I'm sunbroing I can keep the agro from the boss on me and still make a mistake and live.

I really like Havel's Shield. I've based one of my more current builds around it, which started out just for fun really, and I've ended up having a lot of success with it. It never ceases to amaze me how many players will try to attack me through it, and due to Chiz's excellent info/advice, I respond in kind with a Leo Ring stab.

Never bothered with havel's shield, it's just so incredibly heavy I dont see it's benefits outweighing it's worse points..

I'll usually use any armor I find visually appealing so long as it's practical. I won't try to elicit every single statistical advantage I can but I won't put myself at a disadvantage for looks either.

My build is definitely set up with a lot of lighter equipment to compliment that. It's defenses are amazing; you can essentially take hits from anything and the health/stamina loss are extremely minimal. Like carrying around a piece of wall. The other day I was fighting a BS chainer and I used the shield's special ability and, with only 26 VIT, survived 3 BS's and still went on to win. Like anything else taste and play style come into play. I'm not personally a huge fan of great shields, but Havel's has done nothing but impress me.

I think pretty much all of the armor in this game looks terrible. I usually wear a mask and mix match orsteins with whatever gives the best stats(med-light armor) though i certainly dont have what could be considered the best equipment.

Really i think that there is nothing wrong with it. i think its worse when other people try to tell me what i should wear...its like "Your a comformist! if you dont wear emo crap like me and all my friends your a stupid conformist!"- the jist of an episode of South Park on this very matter.

I dont care if your a min/maxer just dont lagstab me and we are cool.

I use Havels Legs and Gauntlets, cause I think they look great.

Other then that the only mainstream thing I use the Grass Crest Shield.

I invaded Quarik yesterday whilst using the Holy Robe as my chest piece. (Jerk killed me winking )

Carphil wrote:Of course everyone here is "against Min/Max", preffer looks over efficiency and never wear havels or giants set.

    But tell me something

How many users here in our forums uses Dark Wood Grain Ring to wear a bit more armor, have poise and still ninja flip?

How many uses at least one part of havels set?

How many cosplay Tarkus, Solaire or Kirk with DWGR? I never saw any of those NPC ninja flipping...

Me, for example, aways put on Havels chest when PVEing in New Londo, I also wear a mask that I got from Pinwheel when first entering Tomb of Giants, and I adapt pretty much all my equipment when I enter a new area.

PVP is another story, 50% wear the same set: Giants chest, gloves, leggings. Mask of the mother, lightning rapier, Hornets or DWGR and Ring of Favor and protection, and the other 50% try to create toons with at least Personality. Some even create backstories for them.

DWGR doesn't effect looks so are not giving up looks for stats, and some might actual prefer the ninja flip look wise. Rings don't effect looks so i will use the best combination of rings i can.

Havels Gloves/Legs look good with the right combination, i would never wear the helm or chest though.

    Cosplaying is lame to me.

my current armor set up is Giants helm/legs, Havel gloves and Hallow theif chest. go put that on and tell me it doesn't look cool, also as i said earlier i need at least 56 poise, if there is one thing i hate more then an ugly piece of armor, it is being stun locked 100-0

Havel's arms are some of the coolest pieces of armor in-game. The legs look like goat legs though.

I've sworn off of dwgr. In pvp I'll fast roll, even if I have to use havel's ring to get it done.

I agree with you cheeky, cosplaying to me is just kinda boring and pretty crap really I'd rather just use weapons and armour I like that be limited to some characters abilities (or even from another game, which I think is even more ridiculous)

Also I agree that havels gauntlets and possibly legs are okay, but giants I hate, I dunno why but I just refuse to wear it, I think they look awful :|

I guess we all are Min/ maxers somehow. And that is because we cap our toons to certain SL. So in order to improve our abilities we use certain gear or weapon and still be able to move quickly or generate incredible damage output.
For example, my low level sorceress is a min/maxer regarding magical power. I use it to do PvE in the Parish and the Depths.
I use the Slumbering Dragoncrest Ring and Dusk Crown with the Oolacile Ivory Catalyst. This way I get the max magical damage power with a SL 15 toon. Some of the great heavy soul arrows do even 500 damage of power. No need to bb glitch for that. And if you add the red tearstone ring ... Ufff!!! Lots of power.
I don't use any armor to improve my stats though, I like it to be fast and agile, so I always go for good looks on that subject and end with 0 poise or low phys defence... That is why I suck at PvP.

I had a toon that was a min/maxer. Found it quite boring honestly.

I much rather have my guys look unique. Also, I can't stand the sound of heavy chest pieces. Clink, clink, clink....makes me mental....

I'll wear heavy gloves and legs to get some poise, but I wear medium or light chest pieces almost exclusively.
