Theories on Velka

I've heard a few, and I have my favorites. What are yours? What do you think Velka has to do with the Dark Souls Lore?

Personally, my favorite is that Velka is the crow that brings you to Lordran. I always wanted to think that Velka is a good person. A righteous person. But in some way became the Crow. Idk how, but that's a theory I heard, and I like it.

I think Velka isn't in the game, that her role was replaced by Gwyndolin and the Darkmoon Blades, that like Priscilla she was meant to have a larger role that got cut out, that the developers still liked her weapons and spells and so left them in the game, and that like everything else, the lore is meant to be made up by us but not definitively proven by anything in the game. I'm just lazy, and I refuse to run myself in mental circles trying to understand something that isn't there.

There are some weird connections however between the Undead Asylum and the Painted World, I think. The Crow and the harpies, the island in the sky vibe, the weird dog statues in Undead Asylum and the robed woman statues in the Painted World, and the peculiar doll. Souvenirs of Reprisal dropped by the crow-like harpies represent the execution of Velka's ideals and the magic that sucks you into the Painted World also resembles the spells we have of Velka.
