What are you thinking during a fight?

Ganks, duels, random invasions, what are you thinking about as you fight. I'm curious if anyone is consciously planning out their fights or goin on instinct.

I'll give you an example. During a fight where it's me vs 2 gankers, my focus is mainly on what they're doing. Mostly following me like lost pups. I'm thinking out how I'm gonna either give them the slip or take one (or both) down in a timely manner. During a duel I'm keeping track of my opponent, measuring their spacing and movement and watching their animation frames.

I'm still learning this PvP stuff, so mainly OH-CRAP-OH-CRAP-OH-CRAP-OH-CRAP-OH-CRAP-OH-CRAP-OH-CRAP-OH-CRAP-OH-CRAP-OH-CRAP-OH-CRAP-OH-CRAP-OH-CRAP.

If I'm going up aginst gankers, then I will be thinking of when they will attack, if they are going to backstab me, etc. So yeah, for gankers I am consciously planning my next move. But for a regular fight, then it's all instinct really. My only thoughts are really "He's fishing for a backstab. Damn." Other than that, my mind is completly blank.

First rule of basic pvp wisp. Keep your cool. Better yet, confidence. I feel like having a Kamina moment so excuse me. *ahem* BELIEVE IN THE YOU WHO BELIEVES IN HIS SELF! YOUR KNIFE IS THE KNIFE THAT WILL BACKSTAB THE HEAVENS!

Need to lay off the hot-blooded anime for a while.

The thought that always goes through my head in a fight is a question: "Has my opponent committed himself to an attack?" I need to say 'Yes' to progress down the flowchart of a fighting style I have.

Every weapon (besides the bow) I use is a tool that will punish a choice to attack: I can parry the slow attack when the opponent throws himself at me; hoping a giant, blunt hunk of metal will smack me in the gut. I can roll past the failed, momentum-choked charge to land a hit with a Spear against the lance that is called the Washing Pole or Estoc. I can light up the hopeful face of an attempted roll-parry with a cast of the much maligned magic of WoG and, GC or give a much more down to earth response of boot to the face while the opponent scurries away from the stun. When I can't do any of these, I can still block the skilled offensive and hope that I have enough stamina left to counter.

anyway I am very premeditated in my kills - I play my dark souls like I play my chess - situationaly and I also plan 3 steps ahead and tend to predict opponents - I am a fast learner - on the other hand I have no idea what Natalia is thinking but its probably something along the lines of "Oh are you *** serious? I clearly had that parry!" she won't appreciate that comment but ah well

I try to keep my mind as blank as i can. I have a mantra i use to try keep my mind clear, so that i can act without thinking. 'Be like water' i say it over and over and then just try and let my body do its thing.

You would see what sort of player I am if you watched me in Rome Total War.

Since I mainly forst pvp "Run away run away, where are those damn ents, crap they killed the cats run away run away HULK SMASH!" and then I either win or die.

Lag be a vicious ***** with teeth in her portal. Haha.

Instinct fighting is only when I can press the fight to my advantage (I.e. Smashing through a guys defense because he's to shocked to fight back). Since I've given up ninja flipping I have to be more methodical with my approach. "arrow shot + menu swap to shield + chain bs the distracted sunbro + CSS the host as he flees in terror" works surprisingly well with the right support.

"I hope they don't do the trident dance, please don't let them have a trident."

"Oh hell, more gankers. Lets see... stamina buff, weapon buff, let's go! Ok, good, OHKO backstab on the phantom... The host is running back to the stairs, let's take that opportunity to show him either the power of OHKO backstabs or kat sprinting R1."

i also plan those fights, I run to the ents, I run to the cats, I run to the mushroom people and then I go all out with my MSGS. If I dont I get lagstabbed.
