+5 Ascended Pyro glove early in the game.

Every time I start a new character, I always end up co-oping at Kellogs until I can max out the pyro glove. However, this generally takes quite a while and so I was wondering if other people thought if I was wasting my time.

Depends on your play style.
If you rather like turtling or performing only safe things... a +5 Pyro Glove is probably the best thing in the entire game (GC).
If you rather play dex/evasive... then there is probably no need for the Glove for you at all.

Theres more to the flame than GC, and I've seen good pyros who don't turtle like his1n says. But it does depend on your build. If you are a heavy magic user then I would suggest it, if you are buffing with it, of course you already know not to bother, its actually bad to level it up then.

But by that point in the game you can have pretty much ever single pyromancy, and that means way way wayyyy more than just combusts, if you like using fireballs and what not I would say its worth it. Its only time you are spending anyway. No harm comes from that unless you aren't having fun

I'd say if you love using it, then grab it. The rule here is: if you don't use it, you lose it. If you DO use it, then go right on ahead! Simple as that. XD

It's the best thing since sliced bread.

Joking aside, if you want some magic but don't care about raising Faith or Int, go straight into Ascended Pyromancy.
I felt that it made some fights kind of easier though (Sif for example).

I prefer toupgrade mine as I go along. I dont like the idea of maxing it out straight away then realising - I will never do more damage than this ever.

I only spend souls on my pyromancy flame until it is +5, then I start leveling up. I don't farm for it, just through the normal progression I use those souls.

Usually I don't need any pyromancies, I just go full melee, but sometimes I'll grab some pyro at end game and gradually upgrade it from there.

You are in a sense wasting your time, at least progression wise, though whether or not that's a bad thing is up to you. If you feel it's a bit of a waste then I'd suggest an alternative. Progress through the game in another area so you're gaining souls and actually doing something you would have had to do anyways. One of the great things about this game is doing things in whatever order you choose. It's only truly linear when you do Sen's and Anor Londo. Up until then you have a lot of freedom.

Also unless you're specifically trying to reach a certain level by the end of the game, you can get plenty powerful enough just playing through normally without ever farming. Messing around with speed runs I would make it to level 60 by end game and I skipped a lot of stuff that would have made me even higher. Taking into account how many souls it takes to fully upgrade a glove you'd still be level 30+ I'm guessing. With a +5 ascended Pyro glove, level 30 at end game is way overkill. If this is for pvp then yes you'd definitely still have to farm.
