Strength Scaling
I recently read some threads that talked about some scaling stuff I'm not very familiar with haha! I saw that the Demon's Greataxe scales S with str at +15, which lead me to believe that it'd be good to put str to 50 with that weapon. Would it be worth it? Or would it just not add much damage at ALL?

Re: Strength Scaling
The best way to figure it out if you have the souls to level is equip the weapon and start adding levels to Str without hitting Accept. Watch the Attack rating for you right hand weapon and see how much it increases with each level. Diminishing returns will cause it to increase by less somewhere past 40 and its up to you to decide if its worth it or if the level would be better placed in a different stat.

Re: Strength Scaling
what you should do is actually get 66 strength and two hand - then u have the equivalent of 99 strength when you two hand

Re: Strength Scaling
No, the weapon scales with a very high S though. at 50 strength, a 2 handing bonus with this weapon adds an extra 47 attack power though. Even after 50, you get 1-2 extra attack power per point. it's the best weapon for strength scaling in existance. Get strength to 66 and two hand this beast, you'll do 716 AR, that's 640 damage per blow on a Mask of the Father + Giants getup.

Re: Strength Scaling
Mmmmm. What do you guys think of a Havel's Armor, Wolf Ring, Havel's Ring, 2H Demon's Greataxe?
PS: How does a Str Build with the Demon's Greataxe compare with a Str/Faith build with the Grant?

Re: Strength Scaling
Demons Greataxe has the highest DPH of any weapon in the entire game. It will do more damage then Grant, about 280 more points per hit to be precise.
If you're okay with Fat Rolls, the build might be alright. it would operate well in PvE, PvP just depends on you I suppose. Ditch the Wolf Ring, anything above 115 poise is useless unless you're hacking to get 165.

Re: Strength Scaling
Just chuck on the Stone leggings or something of the sort :L it is 22 poise or just throw on BI leggings and Wolf ring if you want 58 poise - It is easy to achieve but not really needed

Re: Strength Scaling
Havel arms and legs with any chest piece that gets you above 75 is a good suggestion.
Or combination of helm and chest with the other havel pieces that gets you 76 total poise and your good.
The more poise you have the longer it takes your invisible poise meter to build back up.

Re: Strength Scaling
Hmm. I'll have to look into some combinations of armors for getting as much poise as I need. What's a good poise for PvP? As in, what's the max Poise I want in PvP so no character used weapon can stunlock me easily?

Re: Strength Scaling
Well in a 2v1 if the 2 enemys are using heavy weapons then your still going to get stunlocked no matter what. 76 is good cause I can take two hits 2 handed from and ultra great sword while a two handed great sword with three hits in a row does between 90 and 110 poise dmg but I try not to stand still for 2 hits much less 3.
Only thing I can say about pvp is be agressive unless its and honorable battle then its a chess game.
But if it isnt then be agressive the more you are the more mistake the enemy is likley to make.

Re: Strength Scaling
I have 58str on my str build and I equipped the demon greataxe, it gave me 520damage,
the dragon king great axe gives 570, so unless you are planning on having more than 58str it seems that the dragon axe is winning.
Edit-My mistake the demon greataxe is 667 damage at +15 good cuz I was doubting myself before, that's why I doublechecked now.

Re: Strength Scaling
Ahh! Thanks! I guess the Dragon King Greataxe doesn't scale. And having it be better than a +15 regular weapon scaling S with a str wouldn't be good balancing on From's part haha!

How's this for an Immovable PvE tank? I'm probably not going to go too deep into PvP with this character. I just want to try this out. How is it? I was thinking the attunement for Power Within and Iron Skin.

Those numbers look pretty good to me, you can play around switching vit for endurance maybe and wear
a MOM, since you will have so much weightfull things on you, maybe havel and darkwoodgrain won't do, depends also if you don't mind going slow and fatrolling.

Ahhhh! Yeah. That'll work! I'll fat roll with PvE probably if I can stand it, then I'll switch for PvP whenever I do.

I actually find Fatrolling more detrimental for PvE then PvP.

Re: Strength Scaling
As long as I have a shield, I don't mind fatrolling, because I played my first 50 hours of Dark Souls without using a roll at all. Ya know, playing at release.. starting as a Knight. Putting stats in Resistance instead of endurance... Haha! I got stuck at Quelaag. Anyway, I'm used to not rolling. I find it hard TO roll sometimes. If I need to go faster, I'll know the enemies ahead of me, and I'll equip accordingly.

Re: Strength Scaling
With everyone and their mother using the DWGR fat rolling is a big surprise in PvP and if you're good can be an advantage. In PvE its a ***** and I just can't deal with it lol.

Re: Strength Scaling
I can usually do fine with fat roll, but I'm kind of getting tired of having low poise and rolling slow haha! 24 pound weapon makes me heavy instantly. I need to get Havel's ring... Time to call it a night, though. I'm gonna grab the Stone Armor asap after I get Havel's ring.

Re: Strength Scaling
If your just playing on using the build for pve then id say go to 50 str or over. If you plan on pvping and want to stay at a decent level id say bring your str to 46 so you can one hand the demon axe. Even two handing puts you at like 80 something str, which is pretty good. I just think that the diminishing returns are gonna make for wasted points that you coulda put in vit or end
