Re: Is winning everything?
I'll admit winning is very important to me. I wìll do anythìng to wìn asìde from breaking any rules set beforehand, like in setup duels. It is not everything to me though. As long as I get a good, clean fight I'm having fun and that means more to me.

Re: Is winning everything?
If you are here only to win in Dark Souls PVP your going to have a horrible time, if your here to have fun welcome to Dark Souls.
I think part of the issue is that when people buy Dark Souls they take winning the game too seriously and then the idea that this game needs to be taken seriously glides over into PVP and then there is the birth of a truly bad player, because even if they win they won't be enjoying the game the way I am.

Winning = fun, losing is never fun. So yeah, winning is everything. I play to win, I don't play to try and be fair. I'll use the cheapest methods possible to win.

Why are you trying to win? You cannot know how important it is to win if you do not know what motivates you to win.
I do not think it does any good to vilify people this way, or to assume that they should share your values.JY4answer wrote:I figured some 12 year olds just find winning the most important thing, while they don't see anything in a good, fair fight.

Winning is everything, not just in a game. The winners succeed and the losers fail. How someone goes about winning doesn't matter. Also winning is required to maintain a healthy ego.

I have other things I use to maintain my ego.
That said: Dark Sous and most video games FUN is everything. I mean, if I get a BS fishing boring vitality build 3v1 ganker I will try to beat them still because it's a challenge. But if I'm in a duel, especially at Battle of Stoicism, and some one is being lame (example: BS fishing only) I will turn around and show my character's back to the player. I'd rather be done quickly and move on to a fight more fun.
That's very situational. In FC or dueling in popular areas I often find losing more exhilarating because I've found some one better than me and it becomes a fun challenge. I have gotten my butt whipped by many people on this forum, and if we get to duel frequently I have a blast and get much better at the same time. I could probably beat most of the ego-obsessed gamer stereotypes by using counter-techniques, but I don't care. I move on. There's better and more fun duels out there.
Or, to be mean, I know my p***s is bigger in RL.

No, I take this conversation seriously. As I see it there are more people that agree with JumpsU3vs1 in the gamer community and I want to know why. Just because I cannot relate to it, I can't ignore it.
Maybe I will join you, Jumps. But if I'm going to gank I could only do it in a hilarious way. A way that the victim could laugh as well.
Example:

Nuff with the necros please. I'd prefer a restated topic, instead of people quoting and responding to people who haven't been around for a year.

Re: Is winning everything?
For some, winning is everything, this is the nature of the world and those who can't see the value of the journey to their objective. Personally, I like good fights, and while I enjoy winning, I don't think losing makes the fight unfun. I had one fight in the forest, a dude and a sunbro, one was a pyro/str and the other was a dex with an uchigatana. The dex dude stood away and let me fight the pyro first, then got invaded by another forest bro who the dex fought. In the end, it was 2 vs 2, but effectively two fights of 1 vs 1 (although we did switch partners once or twice) my fellow FG got killed and, while the dex and pyro handed my *** to me, it was one of the most enjoyable pvp fights I'd ever had. For me, and probably for a lot of Souls players, it's about the fight instead of the outcome.
