Help me develop my build!

Hey there,
I am looking to develop a nice build for the game but i don't really know much about it so I looking for your help!

I know there is a lot of info on the wiki and these forums, but reading all of it before finishing the game once can completely spoil the game for me. and also i have limited gaming time so i'd rather play than spend endless hours scrolling through pages. I ll probably get to it after finishing the game once.

But for now i just want some help to develop a solid build that fits my play-style, and that doesn't suck too much :p

This is what I would like my char to be:

-want to start with a wanderer.
-main weapon will be a katana
-possible use of magic/pyromancy
-wear light armor

basically i wanna make a kind of wandering samurai that can use some spells if the situation asks for it (and because spells are awesome). I also want to focus on speed, parrying, evading, dodging, rather than just tanking

So my questions are:
-which stats would be most important for me? (apart from dexterity)
-should i use pyromancy or magic?
-which covenant could be useful for me?

i should mention than i am more interested in the pve part of the game and coop.

Looking forward to your advices, and maybe kill some bosses together in the future

I would say vitality will be important in case you come across something you can't dodge very well. If you like to play with fire just stick with dex but you'll need to branch out to int for magic or faith for miracles, at least in early game. I won't spoil anything (too badly) but eventually you will be able to use either magic with a high faith or miracles with a high intelligence. For parrying you'll just want to find a shield or weapon you're comfortable with for timing.

It's a good dex build and the 45 dex will make your pyro castings fast as well as taking advantage of the A scaling on the iaito (regular upgrade path +15). I thought that going dex/int would be stretching your points too much and more vit/end is always good to have.

The Iaito has the best moveset out of the katanas in my opinion. The suggested armor is optional of course but the dusk crown is good to have for the +20% damage for pyro. Bellowing dragoncrest ring is a must since it adds another +20% so you'll be doing huge damage by stacking both bonuses.

I stopped it at lvl 120 in case you want to pvp. The most important thing you should focus on besides dex is vit I guess. Have enough attunement for the spells you plan on using, those spells listed are simply spells I thought were useful.

The unupgraded pyro flame is to be used if you want to use power within for another attack bonus but I dont see that being too useful in pve unless it's against a boss.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that the chaos servant covenant would be the most useful for you since it will give you access to two good pyro spells: chaos great fireball and chaos firestorm.

if this is your first time you are supposed to screw up your first build, try all the weapon and use the one you like and are good with. but if you really want a katana just make sure you level up your dex first then vit, end, att no more than 16 and enought str to use your katanas. after you can try either int or faith, pyromancy doesnt require any points into anything. once youre done with this build you can make another build around your favourite weapon.

but before I go, a quick response:

The fire spell are more for style than anything else, I just think they might be pretty cool

and i know I will screw up my build but since I do not have much time to play the game at the moment some direction is nice so I do not have to restart halfway. (which might still happen )

Lastly I suppose I will not get a katana for a while, right? If that is the case I will just play around with the other weapons I guess
