Hi everyone. I'm currently trying to make a Spellsword Intelligence build character and I'm wondering what's the best weapon to use. I'm tossing up between levelling my spear so I can get the Moonlight Horn when I get to Anor Londo, or is it better to just upgrade it to Magic? I'm only SL20 atm, just about to enter the Depths, trying to farm some Green Titanite there. I just don't want to end up stuck in Duke's Archives again, I've literally only got one out of my seven characters so far past it, because I've been stuck wit low damage weapons that can't kill the Channelers before they teleport all over the place and rain hell on me. Any suggestions would be fantastic, I'd love to get a magic build to NG+ because I'm a little tired of my Black Iron, Black Knight Sword SL120 character.

Re: Help with Intelligence build
its better to upgrade it to magic so you have some melee power, you get a lightning spear in Sen's fortress that you can downgrade to +10 then upgrade to moonlight butterfly horn once you're in anor londo
I'd say if you wanna kill the chaneller you can easily draw out the rats or kill them first using magic, then attack chaneller to kill him.. You'll want to have a weapon that's not magic damage though as they're really REALLY resistant to that.
Also for final weapon for mages, either get and enchanted+5 katana/balder sword which are good or get moonlight greatsword, its the *** for pure mage builds.

Re: Help with Intelligence build
Crap, forgot about downgrading, somehow. Is the moonlight greatsword viable for a low strength/only reasonable until high SL endurance build? I'd like to keep my burden as close to, if not under 25% as possible. Also, I was refering t the Channellers in Duke's Archives. Those guys are like my main nemesis in this whole game. The constant teleporting behind more overly buffed enemies is just insane. And the damned things respawn.

Re: Help with Intelligence build
try electriicity weapons (el bastard sw +5 have them 1 and half hit while 2 handed) on the channelers , a good idea is also bow with hawk ring (they dont teleport with that and if you hide behind a pillar with a little patience you ll be ok) , the moonligth gr sw is the best weapon for magic builds, you ll need 28 int to use and with 24 end you have 4 good swings

Re: Help with Intelligence build
I can't waste my Titanite Chunks on Electric weapons, unfortunately, I need them for my armour/shields. Also, I'm less concerned with how many hits per endurance with MGS as how much it's going to burden me, it's damned heavy. Thanks for the suggestion though, if I wasn't being so stingy with upgrade material I would have gone lightning as it's about the only thing that seems to be useful in Duke's/Crystal Cave.

Re: Help with Intelligence build
I'd say do seath last, after you've done new londo so you can farm chunks if necessary, if you want to get lightning weapon.
If not then try and get a decent Fire weapon, quelaags sword destroys duke's archives. Honestly fire weapon is completely viable in duke's and anything will work on seath if you use slumbering dragoncrest ring strategy.
but i think Moonlight greatsword is viable if you're gonna have 30END, not that heavy tbh.. only 6 weight. its not a big ask and it's powerful than other weapons available to you, but moonlight horn has really good reach for tanking if you wanna do that.

Re: Help with Intelligence build
Thanks for all the help, Serious_Much. I'll probably leave Seath for last, or at least close enough to. Is the skeleton blacksmith in the catacombs the only guy who does fire upgrades? I can't remember if anyone else does.
EDIT: It'll probably come down to how much Green Titanite or Chunks I can farm whether I go Fire or Lightning.

Re: Help with Intelligence build
when you go to duke's switch your magic to pyromancy and itll be a lot easier, also try velka's rapier, its pretty awesome, moonlight sword is asesome too but you need a lot of stamina.

Re: Help with Intelligence build
I like Velka's and Moonlight Greatsword for weapons. Keep one in my right hand and a catalyst in my left for PvP. For PvE I like having a shield in my left and a catalyst and weapon in my right.
For Dukes concentrate on pyro for some quick kills until you reach the bonfire. Once there I'd suggest keeping pyro until you kill the non-respawning crystal golems, homeward bone, then switch to your most powerful crystal spells you buy from Logan. Once you do that you can sprint the whole way to seath.
If you want the tail you're going to have to kite him to the middle of the board so you can get around him. The key is to hit the TIP of the tail, which is no easy feat. Your best opportunity is going to be when you first encounter him and hit his crystal to stun him. While stunned you can get some good hits on the tip, just two hand a weapon that has a good up/down motion. After you get the tail you can beat seath easily by spamming your best crystal magic. He's REALLY easy if you're not going for the tail w/ a mage.

when you first go in run straight to the crystal ,then let him come to you and bait his breath attack. as soon as he starts his attack run strait behind him. is attack will destroy the crystal and stun him in the process. U can the spam soul spear on the tip ftw.

How do you get soul spear to hit the tip of the tail?

Interesting. I'll give that a shot. Maybe an unlocked fireball would also work. I hate getting the moonlight sword. It's the second most tedious thing in the game (archers in Anor Londo take the cake for the most tedious).

Re: Help with Intelligence build
It's pretty rare that I'd b facing Seath alone. I can solo him fine, but I hate doing the golem garden and the crystal cave alone. I've got the Moonlight Sword my last couple of times fighting him so I know the tricks.

Re: Help with Intelligence build
It's a brilliant spot for farming, both soul and titanite. Also, Miss Onion is a lot easier to get at if you kill all the other golems before you kill seat, then run back and get the golden one before you hit his bonfire.

Re: Help with Intelligence build
Never had an issue killing the golden golem, once you kill her and the 1 tough golem on the bridge you can just run past everyone pretty easily. You can always farm later if you want...
