no idea, but i just did that quest not long ago for the first time.
if you're asking this because you are having some trouble killing them: i found a cheap trick to go on the stairs then aggro them and they wont climb if you stay on the edge. so i just spammed soul arrows untill two of them died and just killed lautrec.

I just shot him with an arrow and he ran straight at me. For some reason, his companions ran right then ran straight for me. Because of this, I can face him 1-on-1 for a few seconds. Just enough time to kill him.

Thanks guys, I agroed the two companions and killed them then one hit ko'ed Lautrec with divine+10 bandit knife and hornet ring <3
