...Is actual a viable thing, apparently. I just got Smough's Hammer for the first time ever, and I decided to pretend i'm smough. threw on the armor and havel's ring and dark wood grain but, wait! i was over 50%, so i threw on the ring of FAP. STILL over. decided to just say screw it and fat roll, and i've actually only lost a few times, and i'm getting better all the time!! with the ring of steel protection and the speckled stone ring, my resistances are through the roof, even a backstab from the BKGA with the hornets ring didn't OHKO me! So, for everyone reading this, please please please go throw on the heaviest armor you have, take off the DWGR ring, throw on a heavy weapon, and GO TO TOWN! Hopefully this will help kick those DWGR flipping giants off the PvP grid once they realize they don't need to have that on, because i don't think i've pvped against someone without that damn ring more than once or twice in my life. Way too overused...

Re: So fat rolling...
I wasn't there for the official fat-rolling FC night, but hopefully more people have become aware that it's not entirely impossible to be effective without the flip ring
My favorite build right now is my fat-rolling Stone Knight cosplay. 30 End with a Ring of Favor and Protection is all I need to fat roll with it, and without being forced into 40 End I was actually able to invest in enough stats for the sword

Tolvo built a SL 60 sdtone knight for my user cov. It had 40 str. I have to ask him how it went. Speaking of which Reaper want to join my cov with that knight?

Re: So fat rolling...
What level is it? I'm totally going to make a High vitality build based around true tanking right now, not sure if i should go with a SL 80 or 120 though =/ not sure how active PvP is outside of 120 in the first place lol. I've found that since people aren't used to fat rollers, when I roll and they run in for the inevitable backstab, my rolling R1 from Smough's body tenderizer catches them totally offguard xD and I saw that thread, one day too late I was so sad because I've always wanted to try fat rolling... but i've been a-scurrd

Well, it's actually a 40/40 Str/Dex build, so it's my all-purpose cosplay character lol. Sometimes it's a Stone Knight, sometimes it's a Darkwraith, sometimes it's Solaire, sometimes it's Shiva, sometimes it's Kirk, sometimes it's a Silver Knight...I think you get the idea
I'll look into the covenant though, care to give me a link to wherever it's main thread is? Don't really wanna derail this thread too much lol.

Re: So fat rolling...
I've never been a fan of Fat Rolling, primarily due to the backstab and DWGR mechanics. DWGR means the same defense can be received for less hassles. and Backstabs make slowness a complete stupidity to exist. In both cases, I think Fat-Rolling was more then efficient before people started mini-maxing.

Re: So fat rolling...
I mean i'm not trying to argue that fat rolling is amazing, just that it's more viable than some might expect. I think we severely underestimated the mechanics in place when this game first game out. First everyone thought lightning weapons were retardly overpowered making actual builds pointless, now everyone thinks the DWGR is necessary to PvP at all. I just think people should give it a try is all rather than equipping giants armor throwing on a claymore with the grass crest shield and the childs mask. And unless you have havel's ring on along with DWGR, I'm getting a good bit more defense than you, especially since i've been using ring of Steel protection and speckled stoneplate

Is the steel ring really that effective? Been said it sucks at pvp

Re: So fat rolling...
everything is viable, of course some weapons or styles are a lot harder to get used to, fat rolling is fun but you can actually dodge attacks with fat roll which is hilarious. i've been practicing dueling with my pickaxe and mace but so far i havent been really succesful with them, they awesome for parries and backstabs though.

Re: So fat rolling...
Most of my toons use fast roll and Wolf's Ring, and I have no difficulty getting the poise I want. For 76, Havel's Gloves and the Gargoyle Helm + Wolf's Ring is all you need, and that only weighs 15. You can be even lighter if you only want 54 poise.GrEeNgObLiN wrote:U need to addapt your style with it. My only toons that use the DWGR, actually, are when I'm cosplaying the armored boar--that helm is not worth its weight! And my Roulette toon, because its stats are so spread out to be able to wield almost any weapon, that I need the ring to compensate for some deficiencies.
Honestly, though, the DWGR is almost always better than Wolf's Ring. When I equip Wolf's and fast roll, if I would put the DWGR on instead, I could have more defense, same poise, and ninja-flip. That ring is OP because it's effectively like combining the Wolf's Ring and Steel ring (more defense, same poise) in one.

Re: So fat rolling...
Yeah, it really is OP, i just feel dirty all over when every single one of my characters has it equipped lol so i'm gonna start changing things up for sure.
And honestly, there are way better options, but when your a fatty fatty and you already won't be able to even medium roll with the ring of fap or the havels ring or the DWGR, then just throwing on the additional defense is more effective than throwing on anything else really, except for maybe the hornets ring or the wolf ring (though this one would probably be redundant). However, I agree, it is a waste of a ring slot in almost all other instances.

Re: So fat rolling...
@Rynn
Nah, I don't think it's like Havel's ring. Havel's gives you 50% more, whereas DWGR allows you to use more of your existing weight. But really, whenever I equip DWGR instead of Wolf's, I get more defense and same poise, so it's like Wolf's and Steel combined. Combined with equip burden enhancing gear, though, things just get ridiculous.

I think they are essentially precisely the same. Havels ring raises "fast mobility" from 20 to 30. DWGR raises "fast movement" to 40 from this same location. It does precisely what wearing 2 of havels rings would have done. instead of "20/80" to "30/120" you get "40/80", which is essentially the same difference.
