Hmm 5 days ago, how the eff did I miss this? Very interesting considering their attitude on the last major post about a possible sequel, I'm glad they are going to go for it and I pray the industry doesn't screw them over.

I hope they don't screw themselves over. Appealing to 'wider audiences' has ruined many series. rip mass effect.

hmmm I don't like the sound of 'appealing to a wider audience' I agree with Forum Pirate

well said. From's attempts to appeal to a wider audience certainly changed pvp from DS to DKS.

Appealing to a wider audience could mean anything. Let's not jump to conclusions here.

actually, i would counter that there is a history of what can happen when a product is geared towards a "broader" audience. i would use the dramatic change in the pvp system (for better or worse) from DS to DKS as an example of this. i fail to see any conclusions suggested, just speculation based on past history.

Well... FWIW I think the PvP system is better in DKS and don't really see it as the piece geared towards a wider audience. It just gave more options. What geared it towards a wider audience was multi-platform, being able to be summoned after you beat a boss, and FAR less grinding, to which I welcome more changes.
The conclusions I was talking about was that this statement inherently means something bad or that it won't be as complex or hard. My point was to say that this statement means nothing. Every game wants to appeal to a wider audience.

As long as it does not traverse into the realms of the Dragon Age debacle then we should be able to breath easy

Yeah this has been floating around various websites, but doesn't seem to have much specifics. You can just as easily read it to indicate they just remain interested in the genre generally. But it's nice to know From has been doing well from DeS/DkS sales, as they've earned it.

Re: Dark Souls sequel in the making
Apparently there's a rumor that they're porting Dark Souls over to the PC through Steam as well? Any one find any good info on that? If it runs better on PC, I may have to pick up another copy.

Yeah think it is basically up to Namco if they want to bring it over - Makes sense really game would be good fit for pc.

i will avoid going off topic any further. guess it is a matter of opinon but i would disagree about the pvp system being better. and speculation is just that, no conclusions have been made. but i do like your post as it promotes some lively and civil discussion. +1

i wish i could compare the PVP, but after completing Demons Souls and going from starting level to like SL150, i've yet to encounter a single invasion or coop

From Software, CD Projeckt Red and AreaNet are the only devs I care about these days. So this is glorious news.

there was considerably more traffic on the servers (which i miss the most) prior to DKS. however, you didn't have the quantity due to DS being a PS3 exclusive.

Re: Dark Souls sequel in the making
Skyrim was more geared towards a wider audience, and it was great. Along with having great sales.
From Software has done great so far, it's too early to think they will do otherwise.
