Some fine members of this wiki made some weapon suggestions for me to try, so I went to the Forest and did my testing on the four forest gardians. Just to make it interesting, I placed my white help sign at the bottom of the stair. I had many adventures because of that, but I'll save those for another post.
Surprise, of surprise one of those who asked for my help actually wanted to kill the boss. I know..I know, you're all shocked that there are still adventurers who want to do that. I figured it out myself because the guardians didn't want to kill me and the host, whom my wife lovingly dubbed "Pighead" because of his helmet, (and you all know the one I mean) pointed firmly in the direction of the "Cat House". I was sooo excited, and immediately lead him towards the building. When we reached the building, however, waiting in the doorway was the red glowing form of a darkwraith.
Noooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!
We stared at each other. The darkwraith in the doorway and me and Pighead outside wanting to get by. The darkwraith was armed with a katana and round shield and wearing the crimson gear. I'm a Roman knight, and well...huh.. there was Pighead...armed with a claymore and medium shield. The darkwraith started the fight by throwing a fireball at us that fell short. Pighead returned fire with a heavy crossbow that hit the door frame. For the next several seconds that is how the battle went, with the two of them missing each other and me standing there amazed at the level of pvp skill on display. I can now say, for sure, that I am not the worst pvp player in the game.
I finally had enough. Hoping the two of them weren't scamming me somehow, I attacked. As the darkwraith cast his fireball, I cast a great heavy magic bolt. Did you know that sorcery spells have a better range then pyromancer spells? This guy hadn't gotten that memo. His spell fell short and mine smacked him in the face for over 200 points of damage. He backed up to the beginning of the bridge and I moved into the building. We exchanged spells again with the same result. He backs up to the middle of the bridge and I'm in the second doorway. Again with the same spells and repeat as before. I don't wait for the ugly surprise, if there is going to be one, so as I finish my spell I charge him. He goes to cast another pyromancer spell... I'm hoping it would have been a chaos fire storm, but I doubt it...I put my +10 claymore though his chest. It almost kills him, but the follow up swing to the side of his head does. As he dissappears I look back at Pighead. He is just standing there in the room with his heavy crossbow looking foolish. There is no gesture in the game for what I was thinking at that moment.
I got Pighead to Sif. And I tried everything I could to keep him alive in that battle. But Pighead just needs a little.... Ok a lot more... practice before he is ready for Sif. Maybe the next guy he summons will be able to one shot Sif for him. That guy is not me.
And Sif... as Pighead disappeared, that damn wolf turned towards me with his wicked gleaming eyes and laughed.
