Divine and Occult Empty Divine and Occult

Post by Akatik Mon Jan 30, 2012 1:11 pm

Divine gives a damage bonus vs undead enemies and occult damages human enemies, right?

So, say I had an Occult Bastard Sword, and the Greatsword of Artorias. When I invade, I should use the Bastard Sword because I'll be going up against a human. And when I'm invaded by a phantom, the GS of A would be the best choice?

    Does that make sense?

    Oh crap, it was?

And before anyone brings this up, I know that a elemental weapon will beat divine/occult nearly every time. I'm just trying to do something different.

Well, not if you have over 60 faith. But we all know how practical that is. And I find that with 40dex/str normal weapons win.

I was a little bummed when I upgraded my Lightning MS greatsword and realized that it outshines my greatsword of artorias by a good deal.

Now, the wiki (yeah I'm not trusting this 100%) says that divine weapons do extra to undead enemies, so it makes sense to me that using the GS of A in a invasion setting would potentially make using it worth it.

By undead, the wiki means those skellies in catacombs and tomb of giants......

Not really. Divine weapons stop them from being ressurected by those necromancers AND kill them easier.

Ah well. Now they're adios PvP ideas Divine and Occult 1330857165

If you like GSs, a normal claymore supported by high str and dex is pretty awesome. Moonlight GS if you're an int toon. I honestly think its an OP weapon, especially for an int weapon.

I think somewhere it's been noted that occult does extra damage to NPCs and Gwyn, but was a while back and may only have been speculation

if you think it was op now, you shouldve seen it in demon's souls, that thing kicked ***, it was unblockable.

Well, based on my other thread about making a new character...here's my current guy. This is the second version of him btw.

    Lvl 74

    Vit 20
    Att 14
    End 21
    Str 24
    Dex 18
    Res 11
    Int 20
    Fai 28

Full Black Armor +5, Lightning MS greatsword, Gravelord Sword, Greatsword of Artorias, and Eagle Shield. It started out as a pure faith/tank build but then I thought it would super sweet to use the GS of A and I skewed my stats to wield it. That decision kinda F'd up my build a little. I would've kept my str, dex, and int lower and used normal/custom weapons and not boss weapons. The points I spent in those three stats would've gone into Faith, Vit, End, Att.

Is just like magic/enchanted weapons: Occult will scale better with higher faith than divine, so: 30 faith I would go divine, 50 faith I would go occult
