Third Level Darkwraith with no Red Eye Orb

So here's what's going on...

I started a new char. Used a... questionable method to get darkwraith armor and a white sign before I normally would have. Then, before killing anyone, I went off and killed the necromancer in the catacombs, because I wanted to kindle for what I was to do next... After this, I proceeded to four kings. I was about level 30 (i had BB'd some souls in there too!). After a few tries, I killed them, and joined Kaathe.

This is where it gets annoying.

I traded him 30 souls (again, obtained by questionable methods). Initially, he gave me a dark hand. At level 1 (10 humanity), he actually gave me the armor and sword. Nothing at level 2 (30 humanity). And nothing a level 3. (80 humanity). Now I'm stuck wihout a red eye orb.

What happened?

Clearly the game is trying to tell you that you should renounce your life of crime and become the world's greatest sunbro. (Also, the questionable method routinely messes up covenant rewards already given in prior lives. But mostly the sunbro thing).

Did you get the red eye orb w/ your initial character? Like any of the other covenant items if you get them and then use that character to BB glitch the game remembers and you won't be able to retrieve it. At least that's from accounts of others since I've never used the glitch (I like 'creating' my characters and can create a SL120 char in less than 20 hours now).

This happened to me with the DMBs. If the character you BBed from was a Darkwraith at any point your new character retains that one's history. Since your first character already got the orb (presumably), you won't ever be given another one no matter how often you rank up, as the game believes this new character was already given his one and only orb.

This will screw you over with covenant spells too (at least the Blade of the Darkmoon miracle in my experience) since you can't throw spells in your BB.

This is why when I BB glitch, I BB EVERYTHING I have, just so I don't miss anything.

abandon the cove then join any other cove then abandon that cove and finally rejoin the dw's to reset everything and give him 10 humanity to get to +1 and he'll give you the orb.

Rant is right. I've had this happen before, betrayed the covenant to go back to rank 0, then was given the Red Eye when I reached Rank 1 again.

Edit: how many reps do you get per day? I don't remember voting that many people today... Was going to rate Rant up for providing the right answer among many outright false ones...

You get 2 votes a day. FYI, I unable to get the Gravelord Greatsword dance on a bb'd char despite deleveling all the way back to Cov 0 (and then some), then working my way up repeatedly. This was the only miracle I was missing on a char I was trying to get the miracle trophy with, and I spent many, many hours trying to get it to work. Eventually had to make a clean char. So while that may work for DW rewards, it won't work all the time. BB at your peril.

I guess it's because there's no way you could misplace a spell scroll, since you can't box them or drop them, so the game doesn't bother "checking" whether you have it or not when you've already been past the rank. Otherwise, I'd have characters with way more than 1 DMB scrolls! An Eye Stone, on the other hand, I'm sure some people would find ways to lose.

I don't know, it's flimsy, but it's the only explanation I can come up with...

Ergh, my bad. I know this is about the DWs, but I ran into the same issue with trying to join the DMBs with a BBed character, and nothing I could do would get me the orb/talisman/miracle. Same situation as Befowler, so I assumed this was an all covenants BB issue.

Yeah, I'm guessing it's just a difference between covenant items and covenant spells. Wouldn't necessarily be obvious to anyone who hasn't experienced it personally. I only knew for sure because I'd done it myself.

That did not work for me for the gravelord. I wasted soo much time. If you have to BB you need someone to give someone your useful items and have them return them to you with a brand new toon that does not have any covenant items.

^For which covenant item, though? The miracle wouldn't work, just like Darkmoon blade, but I imagine the sword should, if that's what you wanted.
