    "Trading" demands Empty "Trading" demands

Post by PlasticandRage Thu Apr 19, 2012 12:43 pm

So last night I was PvPing in the forest and I was summoned by this guy that was so outrageously demanding that incurred the wrath a little bit. Before I was even completely summoned I received a PSN message asking me if I had any Dragon Scales. So assuming he wanted to trade I sent one back saying that I did but I didn't have anything on me. He responded saying "ok, go get them, but you have to have 1 armor set too." Still thinking I was negotiating a trade I asked which armor he was looking for.
He responded: "Giant, Great Lord, Dark, and do you have any good weapons?"
Me: "Well what are you looking for exactly?"
    Him: "Your lightning weapons."
Me: "I don't have anything upgraded that I'm not using, I have an extra Favor set and 10 Dragon Scales I could give you, what is it that you're offering in return?"
Him: "I have to give you something?"
Me: "That's usually how it works."
At this point he dropped something and backed away. So I walked over and picked up 2 black chunks. At which point he started pointing at the door. Implying he wanted me to return to my box and get his things (keep in mind this is a pretty simplified paraphrase, this back and forth went on for about half an hour). While I was typing up a response a forest hunter spawned. So as annoyed as I was at this point, I followed him to the forest hunter, dropped one of his two chunks, and BSCed home. I mean I'm all for gifting if the person does something that warrants it. If I have something someone wants and I don't really need anything in return I generally will make pretty one sided trades or go out of my way to help people out who seem like they need it. I feel like a decent amount of people on the forum can vouch for that. I guess I feel like by being so demanding this kid completely negated any desire I might have had to help out a random player. Actually kind of made me want to kick him off a cliff.
Anyone else have anything like this happen?

It's definitely a first for me. I feel like generally when people ask for things they understand that they're asking you to go out of your way, and do it with some humility. Or at least manners. A little consideration goes a long way. Kind of like in real life. If you want something from someone try being nice.

theyre just lazy dude and they expect you to give them your best armors and sometimes weapons, you can see theyre new to the game because all they ask for is lightning weapons but at least ask nicely, even then o never give anyone anything.

I just don't understand the mentality I guess. I genuinely enjoy helping people out for the most part. I've never been treated like dirt before in the process.

I had a similar guy once who asked me if I had any slabs. I told him I had a couple I hadn't used yet. He didn't offer anything in trade let alone fair.....guess whose goal to platinum the game didn't get sidetracked?

If you were cooping in the Forest, he probably thought you were willing to help him farm invaders by equipping him for it. They apparently have a whole system set up for this.

Now that actually makes sense. He did have another phantom with him in full Giant's with Havel's Shield and a Demon Spear. It's starting to make sense now. I fortunately wasn't there to farm anything. I was just looking for some good PvP.

if you want good pvp the forest is not the place to go dude, maybe the kiln, painted world too.m also try the area before the centepise demon.

Before this play through I would have totally agreed, but I've actually
found some really great players in the forest this time around. That's why I keep going back. I normally don't spend more time there than it takes me to get a fog ring. I'm getting good enough at PvP that I'm finding the cheap/gang tactics that go on in the forest to be a fun challenge.

It has happened to me alot, I give away most of my repeat stuff...now I have all I need and more but when I only had like 100 or I dunno hours and was doing NG+++ with my first and only character then, I was pissed because I had worked hard for my things and here comes this guys asking for gifts like little children for candy.

In fact after 400 hours I still didn't have all the items and was looking for them, I asked in the forum for the avelyn and couldn't make a trade for it so I went and got it.

Greed...sigh, I know most people who have may hours and have won the game various times have probably their gear all set now, don't give stuff to people who are like this and here we have many cool people which you only have to say ohh I am out of this and everyone comes and hands you some but it's because you earn it with good manners, also I have given stuff to many people here for nothing, it feels good to help but not these kind of morons.

That's exactly how I feel. I feel like we've developed into a pretty great little community here, as far as helping each other out, often not expecting or asking for anything in return. But there's a big difference between asking and demanding.

some ppl feel they can act anyway they want due to the anonymity of pvp. i especially love it when i give someone a weapon on my own and then they ask for more.
